My 72-year old mother has been recuperating from a fall at a nursing facility in town and was brought to this hospital for a simple x-ray this week (two blocks by ambulance for some inexplicable reason, but that's another battle). When she arrived, she was put into a hospital bed with the safety rails raised and left COMPLETELY ALONE for an hour. No one came to process her or talk to her or ANYTHING. She couldn't figure out how to lower the safety rails herself in order to find a nurse and she began to CRY out of fear and pain from her injury (she'd been taken out of her nursing facility before she'd gotten her medication for the afternoon). She could hear people laughing and talking nearby, but still NO ONE came to check on her. Eventually, someone came in and my mother asked why it was taking so long. The nurse told her that the x-ray department was very busy and would get to her as soon as they could. When the x-ray technician came in, he said that no one told him my mother was even there until right before he came in to see her, and he hadn't been busy at all. My mother was LIED TO by people being paid to take care of her in order to cover their own incompetence. Thankfully, the x-ray technician was very kind to my mother and is the ONLY reason this joke of a hospital is getting one star. I know that being a nurse is a tough, often thankless, job, but the way they treated my elderly mother is COMPLETELY unacceptable. Kudos to the x-ray technician, but a big, fat F- for everyone else involved in her "care" that day.
