Go to place for medium to long term investing of ETFs and stocks. Fees are very reasonable, trading platform is adequate for non-day trading methodologies. And the outcome of results will greatly adhere for passive investing, or those investors who do not pay attention to the market on a daily or weekly business. I don't see a reason to invest in high-fee mutual funds when a DIY portfolio of low cost ETFs or diversified stocks is all that is needed for a reasonable return over time, all avoiding a hefty average of 2% per annum if the investor succumbs to "safety" of other institutions when in the long term, under-performing simple indices.

Also, if you have a knack for the flow of price and demand for securities and such, it gives you a very liquid approach to sell some profits in hopes of "waiting for the next pitch" when the market corrects and you get an opportunity to reposition yourself for the next rally if done methodically and timely using some common foresight. This opportunity for profits could never occur in a fully invested mutual fund when the fund managers are always told to "swing at every pitch given", or asked to hold to reduce turnover; they could never be able to keep their job if at appropriate times a cash-rich portfolio is the smarter move to take.

Be weary for non-margin accounts if you have Canadian cash only deposited in the account, an attempt to buy a U.S. stock will create an hefty conversion and exchange fee, so they will charge you interest on "borrowing US. dollars". I suggest to stick to Canadian ETFs and stocks unless you plan to utilize Norbit's Gambit to journal Canadian held shares or units to the american listed exchange for a substantially lower fee (usually 0.3% vs 5%), or deposit american money.

All-in-all I am impressed about their services although level two quotes added to their platform would be nice. The order execution is timely and there are adequate options for specialization in those type of orders.

Snap quotes are the default when signing up, you will have to pay extra per month to gain access to a streaming of the quotes. Be sure to take advantage of the refer a friend program to obtain some cash, and stay above the minimum account balance required unless you are less than 26.

Would recommend Questrade strongly to a lot of colleagues and friends.
