My Samsung refrigerator's ice maker needed repair....
My Samsung refrigerator's ice maker needed repair. Samsung agreed to cover parts and I would be responsible for labor costs. I agreed and Ssung stated Lakes Electronics would be contacting me within two business days to set up an appointment. Five business days pass, I received no appointment call from Lakes Electronics. I contact them directly and speak to Betty. She informed me I had to pay $99 up front for them to diagnose the problem and then labor would be extra. I asked how much their hourly labor rate was and she would not give me an answer. I explained to her what parts were to be replaced and Samsung agreed to repair those parts and she still would not give me a price of the cost of labor. I asked for a supervisor which I was transferred to Matt. Matt stated the same as Betty and would tell me how much it would be the replace the ice maker. Matt finally stated "if I have to put a number on it today, then at least $400". Matt did not know what the parts were I was speaking of and stating he was in charge of the technicians but he knew "a little" about the the parts I spoke of. Matt eventually hung up on my call without scheduling an appointment. I called Samsung back and explained. Samsung stated they would cover labor as well as parts so there was no further problems. I called Lakes Electronics back and spoke to Betty. Betty informed me that Matt stated they will be refusing to perform the repair. I explained they were the only company Samsung stated that performed warranty repairs in the area and they still refused to handle the Samsung repair ticket. I asked for Matt's supervisor and was left on hold for 25 minute with no answer. I could hear the line pick up and place me on hold again every 10 minutes. I spent over 6 hours on the phone to try to get my ice maker repaired and this is unacceptable. In my opinion, once Lake Electronics found out Samsung was covering any cost of the repair they were going to try to upcharge me on labor and when they were informed Samsung would cover the labor, they didn't want to perform the repair. Please rate this business accordingly so future consumers will be warned.
