I am not usually one to write reviews but I do feel that my experience with the Rick Singh property appraiser's office needs to be made public. I am a farmer who has an existing farm operation that is classified agriculture with the appraiser's office. I expanded my farming operation to a couple properties on my same street as any farmer would do. I applied for agricultural classification on the properties with the appraiser's office. The classifications were denied by Rick Sings office. The classifications for farmers was put into law to help us farmers grow and expand as I did. This denial has crippled my operation because once classified as agriculture there are protections, benefits, and rights that help farms grow. I have asked them to put in writing why I was denied numerous times verbally and by email. They absolutely will not put the denial reasons in writing. The law specifically states that I can come in and view the valuation. When I went into the office I was denied to view my valuation file, before coming in I did a public information request that was not answered or fulfilled. I went to there attorney Robert and did the public information request the request was eventually fulfilled. When I received the documents the valuation was missing all of the application contents including required business plan, finances, pictures, maps, nursery certificates, usda farm registrations, and much more. All of this info was certified mailed to them. I even asked them if they received the verbally and they said yes. I asked verbally because they did not respond to my email asking if they received my package. I then emailed the Rick Singh office over 10 emails with the contents (the same info I certified mailed). I asked for them to confirm that they received them and no answer. After a week and a half i sent an email asking if they got the emails. Jeff responded that the denial will remain in place. At this point I have no clue as to the specific reason or reasons why I was denied in writing. This gets much deeper because it appears to me that they operate more by routine than operating within the guidelines of agency rules created by statute. I may add more details in the future. For years I had conversations with Jeff Miller and William Clay Rodgers about my operation so I am very confused with this decision. In the past I have always had great respect for them so it is very unfortunate that my impression of them has changed drastically.. very very disappointed. The Rick Singh office is usually pretty good however I did also have an issue years ago on another property that was escalated and after climbing the ladder a few times they said I was correct and corrected the issue. I do feel that they get in a routine and anything outside the routine gets turned down even if what is getting turned down is was with in the law. looks like a duck quacks like a duck its a duck. looks like a farm, registered as a farm, has financials like a farm its a farm. I Hope these guys come around soon my day job is farming my night job is working on this issue. its 350AM right now
