I have been regularly attending Lyric Opera of Chicago since 1966, and every time I am there is a special occasion for me.
I no longer live in Chicagoland, but fly in for performances. And each time i do, i am transported back to 1966, when i saw my very first opera there at the age of 7. I was hooked for life.
The opera house is a local as well as national landmark, the stage has had many great artists walk upon it, and the theatre itself is a beautiful example of Art Deco style.
It should be on everyone's list when they visit Chicago!
