A friend and I reserved a canoe for the 5 mile trip. Water level was 1.44. With the water level this low we had to drag the canoe a few times. Overall the creek was a fun, scenic, relaxing experience.

Upon arriving at the campground you stop and register at the Camp Office, both of the ladies inside the office were prompt and polite. Registration went very smoothly.

Once your registered you step outside to get your watercraft of choice, lifejacket, paddles/oars. After you gear up you watch a video that clearly states everything you need to know about the dam and how to cross it. The employees also make sure you understand completely that the dam video is FOR YOUR SAFETY AND THE INTEGRITY OF THE WATERCRAFT.

The owner ended up driving our bus. Very nice guy, very knowledgeable of the creek and its areas of interest. Overall a very enjoyable, short ride to the creek.

Once in the water we experienced a tree that fell down and created a very strong current in a very small area. We ended up hitting the tree and we turned over. (Current was to strong to turn canoe). Other than this the canoe trip was very fun! No major injuries and we laughed about capsizing. We are officially capsize survivors .

Getting out of the boat at the end of the trip is easy and smooth. The gentleman that picked out boat up for us was polite and prompt. It was a very short walk to the campground. On a clear and level path. Returned to the office for ID and then we took showers. Stalls are clean, and soap for sale in the office.

Overall I highly recommend Sugar Creek Campground in CrawfordsVille IN. We will most definitely be returning. Follow the rules and your trip will be wonderful just as ours was!
