Tom Behringer Review of Kennywood Park

The history of this place is second to none. Packs in a lot for such a small park. Food and drink are reasonably priced and you can bring in your own coolers too.
Park is clean. Never saw a piece of trash on the ground. However the park needs some serious weeding and TLC. Not sure they've ever heard of Roundup, power washing or a scrape and paint.
My biggest complaint is the complete inefficiency of the roller coaster operators in filling the coasters. We rode the Phantom a few times and saw at least 30 runs. On average 6 to 7 seats were empty each time. Ridiculous. It takes a few seconds to grab the next folks in line to fill center sections (they said were reserved for VIP riders that weren't there) as well as instituting a Find a Partner policy like they have on the Thunderbolt. Speeding up waits to rides should be a top priority and the slow motion of inefficient teenage workers is very evident. I worked at an amusement park as a teen and recall the attention to detail in this. It made a huge difference in through put. I hope management addresses this sooner than later.
