The ambiance is quaint, simple, and perfect for those seeking peace and quiet. It feels like one is dining in Connor Prairie without all the tourists to surround you. I dined here on a late Tuesday morning, so not peak hours, but had a great experience.
The food was well prepared. Their homemade slaw is an apple slaw with shredded brussel sprouts, kale, and apple cider vinnegar base. Absolutely splendid, and this coming from a person who does not like slaws or most salads. The bittersweet nuance to this cafe is it's SELF-SERVE coffee bar. Instead of Starbucks overpriced and terrible menu, you get a selection of fresh brewed coffees, hot water for hot tea, 4-5 Torrani syrups, half and half, and sweeteners to dress up your drink at your discretion. Some may not like the fact that you have to get it yourself. I enjoy the freedom of choices and liberties one can take with this.
The service did not dissappoint. The prices are fair to other local competitors. The menu and food quality are consistent to competition in the area. I focus mainly on the ambiance. You can get eggs benedict and sandwiches anywhere. You can't always find a simple, relaxing, and fresh feel to start out your day. All I can say is think Connor Prairie set in the 40's or 50's, and you may get the idea.
