CELIACs BEWARE!

CELIACs BEWARE!

I've actually gone to this restaurant a few times and had great experiences. But ... my most recent visit was not the case. I ordered my food from the Gluten Free menu. I even pointed to the menu when ordering and made sure the server knew my food had to be gluten free. My food arrived. It tasted delicious! About halfway through the manager came to the table checking on me (as if he was checking to see if he needed to call an ambulance or something). RED FLAG! He obviously does not know that gluten in a Celiac is not an ambulatory fix. There is NOTHING that can be done to counter the damage and the damage increases over time. Yes. There was gluten in my food. Yes. The manager had the guts to tell me they'd given me the wrong food. No. There is not a shot or medication that I can take to erase the damage. I will, slowly at first and then more rapidly, decline in my ability to ward off illness as all of the organs in my body are depleted of essential nutrients because there are no villi left in my gut to absorb said nutrients from my food. After being on a completely gluten free diet for a couple of years those villi will begin to grow back but they will never be as strong as they were before you contaminated me! Gluten free is NOT a choice for me. It is a necessity. I will say ... the manager did his best to make it right and comp'd our entire meal. That's why I gave them 3 stars. There really wasn't anything more he could do. Other than make sure he and his staff are completely aware of the dangers of neglectful work habits when it comes to stuff like this.
