Super shady, super unethical, flirting with fraud...

Super shady, super unethical, flirting with fraudulent, sloppy, lack of attention to necessary details. I have condensed a lengthy nightmare into a few paragraphs for this review.

We visited Courtesy CDRJ on an evening and found a truck we were interested in. We returned the next day to take another look. We talked to a young salesman who was pleasant, but not particularly informed about the truck we were considering. After some "negotiating" we agreed to buy the truck for $16,500. Then the process to get through the paperwork began. At some point, deep into that process, we were told that the price we agreed upon, and that they/we signed off on, was not the real price. We were told we would have about 2500.00 of additional costs added to that (not including the normal tags, title, taxes). These fees included the following: Connect and Protect App $599, Courtesy Certified $999, Lifetime Tint $499, Nitrogen for Life $169, Paint and Protect $399. We told the salesman we did not want those additions. He said you have no choice. They are mandatory. He told me they would have someone remove the tint from the windows if we didn't accept that feature. As for the Connect and Protect App, it was already on the car and they could not remove it. The paint they could not remove, and we HAD to take the Courtesy Certified..... and on and on.

I told him I was leaving and I wanted to take with me the copies of our driver licenses, the copy of our insurance and all the other personal information that they had gotten from us. The manager told me they were required by law to keep that information, even though we were not buying the car. (I researched this and could not find anything about such a law in AZ.)

I left the dealership, but my husband stayed to argue with the salesman and the manager. When I went back in a few minutes later, they were still arguing. Finally, the manager agreed to give us the truck at the price agreed upon (16,500) and drop all the other fees listed above.

We got into the finance office and after signing a pile of paperwork (mostly AZ DOT paperwork) we got to the money paperwork. They still had the sales price jacked up to $16,800, tried to include the fee for the paint, and a new fee of $5.00 per tire (the paperwork said for new cars only). After another discussion about those fees we got the paperwork to match what they had verbally agreed to, and we finished and left with the truck.

About 20 minutes later I got a call that we needed to come back because they forgot to put the temp tag on the car.

Two days later the car started to overheat and we discovered there was insufficient coolant in the radiator and the reservoir. Then a week later we got a call saying "the emissions test didn't go through" (we think that was code for they didn't do it at all), and they said would send someone to take the truck and get that done. We refused, because we didn't like the idea of someone taking the truck, and said we would take care of it ourselves and pay the $17.00. We did.

Interestingly, they sent us a refund for the $17.00 and a $20.00 Amazon gift card for our inconvenience.

This was the worst experience of buying a vehicle I have had in my entire life. The sales man was shady, and at one point tried to tell me that he had explained something to my husband when I knew he had not. At another point he tried to say all of our concerns were just a misunderstanding and that it was the fault of the salesman we had spoken to the night before. It was not.. our contact with the previous salesman was casual, at most. The manager was rude, lied, and tried to tell us that we didn't know what we were talking about. Had it been my call we would never have completed the sale.

We definitely will not be a return customer. We will not use them for service. We will not recommend them to anyone.
