I am my family's genealogist and keep a health genealogical record for our living member. I am unable to obtain a death certificate for my bachelor uncle indicating cause of death as I am not his "parent, sibling, children or grandchildren." His parents and siblings are long dead and he had no children. Other states I have dealt with, such as Illinois and Indiana, release such information if the requestor is properly identified and their relationship explained. Why is Florida so tight-lipped? People are increasingly keeping health genealogies to inform family members of possible hereditary conditions.
