My twenty-five year old cedar deck needed some work so I spent a great deal of time looking at different products on line and reading on line reviews of a variety of decking materials, then went to The Deck store to take a look at the actual products themselves. We took a selection of their samples home and then my wife and I with the help of the Sales Manager (Warren) eventually chose Wolf decking. I provided a rough sketch of the deck with some measurements and was given a quote by Warren. When I returned with a more accurate sketch and sat down with Warren to fine tune the estimate it came out to be very accurate. I also ordered the Rain Escape system for my upper deck which turned out to be a great decision and made the area under my upper deck completly water proof. ( I have a bi-level so the area under the upper deck doubles as a storage area). I had a bit of an issue with attachment clips, which turned out to be not as advertised (they made holes in the decking boards). I took the issue to Warren and it was obvious to him that the clips were not working so he found new clips that worked. (This was not their issue as the manufacturer advertised that these clips would work for Wolf Decking). I still had nine boards that were damaged and with Warrens help we resolved this issue and I was provided replacement boards at no cost. (Thanks Warren). My renovation involved re-spacing the current joists from sixteen inch centers to twelve inch centers, which was real grunt work. I did manage to use some of the old joists but had to build a complicated outer edged to support the picture frame look. All my hard work turned out beautifly and the new deck is much sturdier (the twelve inch centers and the addition of more blocking) and has a fabulous look that I expect will last for the next twenty-five years without and more painting.
