A 3 star hotel, 5 star location, and 2 star value...

A 3 star hotel, 5 star location, and 2 star value. This is a very family friendly hotel that appears to thrive off of its conference booking and wedding bookings. If you are looking for a Fairmont quality luxurious beach getaway this isn t the place for you. For example the outdoor pool is so small it is not uncommon for there to be ZERO available chairs on the pool deck for a majority of the day (not to mention the poor architectural choice of putting the pool on a North-South line vs. East-West line right next to the hotel so half of the seating area is covered in shade all day). The rooms are a generous size with Le Labo products, but the hotel badly needs capital improvements and a cleaning. There was mold in the showers in both rooms we stayed in (our first room was so bad we paid for an upgrade and changed rooms) and none of the shower hooks were fastened. This general lack of attention to detail coupled with nice amenities is very reflective of the hotel overall. If you are more interested in the amenities than the hotel there is a great par 3 course on site, a free daily ferry that takes you directly to the shopping district in Hamilton (45 min boat ride, some guests just took it round trip and used it as a free 1.5 hr sunset cruise everyday. Genius!), and the hotel has a shuttle that takes you down to the pristine beaches on the ocean side of the island or <br/>restaurant on the harbor side. Overall great location with 5 star prices, but a solidly lower-middle hotel. If you were expecting the facilities to be comparable to other Fairmont properties you ve stayed at, you will be disappointed. Pro-tip: even numbered rooms on floors 4-6 have ocean and harbor views. Any lower than 4 and your view will be the roof over the conference center and/or parking lot. I think you would need to be at least on the third floor or higher to be able to see the water above the entryway and trees.
