Broiler is San Carlos' hometown diner. I thought all the crowds were at dinner time until I hit it for a weekday breakfast a couple weeks ago. I was amazed at the number of people there. I guess it is popular with the seniors.
The menu is extensive and varied. There really is something for everyone. The food is consistently decent now, improved over what it was 12 years ago; not that it was a problem then, just inconsistent.
The service tends to be on the slow side especially when it is crowded, but there are always specials and lots of good options when your family can't agree on any dinner options.
We run into people we know here often because it is in the heart of San Carlos. It is a nice break from the rest of the upscale places. A greasy spoon in the bistro line up.
