Dawes is a beautiful relaxing place to spend the day. 45 min doesn't quite do it for me. When I set out for the day, I'm looking to relax and leave my stress on the trails. Yes the Japanese garden is beautiful and relaxing, but don't let that keep you from heading up to the overlook above the canopy. This overlooks a beautiful pond and the words "Dawes Arboretum" spelled out across the field of many beautiful trees and shrubs. Then you can trek on over to the pond where you can cross a short bridge to a little island towards the middle of the pond. A great place to sit for a moment relax and take in everything mother nature has to offer. There are plenty of picnic tables, benches, and comfy little nooks to relax or read a book in the fresh air. This is great for your physical and mental health.... Enjoy!!
