I wish you could just rate a place POOR. DO NOT RENT FROM CENTURY 21 Champion!
First of all the woman at the front desk is painful to deal with. She never acknowledges you when you walk in and will finish whatever she is doing first like trying to fix her space heater or jam her wedding rings onto her finger. You just awkwardly stand there at the desk until she feels the need to acknowledge you. Then when she does talk to you she acts as if you are a total inconvenience to her.
We rented from them for almost 3 years. We were never once late on rent and never once gave them a bad check. There were two times that we were out of town and had to mail in our rent. The first time I sent it from PA. I called a few days before it was due to make sure they had gotten it. I was surprised when they said it wasn't there because we usually get mail from PA in less than 3 days. They called back a few minutes later and said "Oh I found it it, it was under a pile of papers on the desk". The second time I mailed it from NM. Again I called to make sure they had received it, the answer again was no. We get mail from my MIL in Maui in less than 5.....They then told us that it came in late, (they had it the day after it was due) but they couldn't cash it and we would have to get a money order with a $50 late fee when we got back. I to this day do not believe it too more than 9 days for the check to get there. I'm sure they had it in a pile somewhere and didn't find it until it was late.
When my husband did the walk through they told him that if there were any issues they would contact us so we could take care of it ourselves and not be charged for it. They did call him because we had forgotten a large pull up bar in the back that we never used. He went over, chopped it up and got rid of it. We apparently had also forgotten to take a few decals of the wall in one of the bathrooms and forgot to put the attic cover back on (it was still there in the garage, we just forgot to put it back in place). They charged us $70 dollars to do that. I called about 30 days after moving out asked why it was $70 because it seemed excessive for a something that would have taken about 5 minutes to do. When I asked why they didn't call to notify us about that stuff so we could take care of it and I explained what they had told my husband, and the fact they called us about the pull up bar, their response was that that was not their policy and she doesn't know who told us that. Well it is not my fault your employees apparently don't know your policies! After I got over the initial anger of the situation I decided to let it go, it was only $70. When I was talking to them about it I had mentioned to them that I had put up 4 brand new light fixtures in the house. I got my deposit back today and there was $212 taken out of it. There was a receipt to replace the light fixture in the dining room that was written 41 DAYS AFTER we moved out (11 days after I called about the $70). When I called to ask about it she said it was brought to her attention that the light fixture was different....So you mean I brought it to your attention and didn't notice in the pictures you took that you had for 41 DAYS?!?!?! Of course they sent the security deposit on the 60th day after moving out.
