Went here for meals a few times when I was going through a rough patch (job loss, loss of my apartment, living in a homeless shelter, etc). The food served at dinner is mainly food that has been donated by restaurants - I had EXCELLENT meals here.

Anybody panhandling saying they are hungry is full of you-know-what. There are PLENTY of free meals available in NYC - you just have to put the legwork into getting them. The panhandlers are either lazy, lying, or looking for drug money. Granted it might not be exactly what you want to eat, but it is food.
