I recently purchase two cars from Walser Mazda Burnsville, a 2017 MX-5 and a 2016 CX-5. During the buying process, I was working with Aldo, and I alerted him to the fact that there was 50-60 paint chips in the hood. I told him that I would be interested in the car if it got it fixed. Aldo advised me that he received manager approval and then he would call me in a couple days to set up an appointment. Several days later I received a call from the clear coat provider, and they advised that I should not get the clear coat until I get the paint fixed. Fast forward a week, after having to call the dealership, they finally set up for a time for me to come in. I thought that they would have a paint guy do some professional work....nope....

A sales manager guy did the work with a touch up paint pen. Where I used to have chips, I not have messy paint bumps. Dude was just working in the back lot using a skillset that I would wager Walser is definitely not paying him for. I didn't object to the work when they showed me the results, I just wanted to get out of there. I shouldn't have to nag a dealer to make good on a promise. I paid well over market value for this "Mazda Certified" car and did not get any deals for purchasing two cars at one. I now have a quote for $1K to fix this. I'm not happy, so I am sharing with everyone.

I was put in contact with David Berwald, the General Manager at Walser Mazda in Burnsville. He acknowledged the issue and worked for resolution. I was given a loaner at no cost and David worked with an actual body shop business(I believe it was Walser collision). After working to buff out the touch up paint, (which unfortunately did not work), the repairs to the damage was done with a full re-painting of the front in and I am happy to report that it looks fantastic and exceeded my expectations. I understand that while individual employees may from time to time make mistakes, a good company makes good to ensure that those mistakes are corrected. I am glad they took this seriously and I will definitely consider Walser for my next purchase.
