Unfortunately not a great guest experience.

Unfortunately not a great guest experience.

Positives first. Great central location and appears to have been recently refurbished.

It's cheap. Used as a one night stop for business and it provided the bed I needed but I did expect a little more.

The noted parking is not on site. It's behind another hotel called The George. It's close-ish but expect to haul your stuff across the road.

You'll need postcode CO1 1TD. Your map may say the access is one way, the opposite to the way you want to go, but it is two way as the other end is blocked with a bollard.

The hotel the carpark is behind is being refurbished and the surface was littered with screws. I cleared up for them, there was at least a bin.

The heating/cooling is broken. Seems to be a hotel wide issue.

The hotel is unattended. The "emergency and assistance" number goes through to the booking centre in Kings Lynn who are ill-equiped to help. However, fair play to the chap who answered as he did all he could (got confirmation the heating/cooling was broken).

The hotels.com website notes breakfast is available however it is not. It even tells you breakfast is available on the receipt you get. It really isn't.
They did message prior to arrival to let me know this, but it's a little late in the day before arrival.

The room I got was well presented but not as spacious as the photos make out.

This could be a great hotel but it needs some attention to bring it to an acceptable standard.

To finish, if you want a really good burger then Love Thy Burger is a few doors down. The Big Smoke burger is incredible, and whilst small, is perfectly prepared.
