The room itself was really nice. However, we had the lovely experience of having the fire alarm go off at 1am (with a 16 month old child). This, in and of itself, isn t a huge issue. However, the response (or lack thereof) of the staff was appalling. The front desk clerk ignored my request to know WHAT was actually going on (was it an actual fire? False alarm? Burnt popcorn?) A somewhat confused member of the janitorial staff let us know that it was just an alarm set off by someone on our floor. (Then proceeded to keep mopping the floor...). About 30 minutes later, someone from the staff showed up in the lobby to let us know that there was an issue with our fire alarm in the room. Then proceeded to tell us that there was no one there to fix it, so the fire alarm was removed from our hotel room. That meant that we were sent back to a room with an infant and without a functional fire alarm. Word to those considering this place- 1. Your fire alarm may or may not work. If you don t care about the possibility of a room fire, then proceed to stay here. 2. If you have an infant or child that doesn t handle sleep disturbances, you may want to reconsider your stay here. After this experience, I am genuinely concerned for the safety of my family in a Marriott room. I truly hope this was an isolated incident, but not sure if I am willing to accept that risk again.
