We went for a lovely romantic pre-Valentines dinner before attending a show at the Repertory Theatre just down the block. Reviews were very good, so Surf was where we wanted to dine. No sign of Surf on OpenTable (whaaat?) so I found their website. Reservations are only taken for parties of 6+, except for special occasions. Isn t the Saturday night before Valentines a special occasion? According to policy, NO, said Joshua the manager I spoke to at lunchtime. We made an OpenTable (ha!) reservation at our 2nd choice right next door for 6:15 and planned to arrive at Surf at 6:00 in case we could get a table. As it turned out, we did get a table, probably due to the pouring rain. We had a wonderful dinner - Oysters, Surf & Turf x 2 and a great bottle of wine, with outstanding service from Angus! All they need to do now is fix their ridiculous reservations policy!
