Courtney Palmer Review of Chicago South Loop Hotel

They get TWO stars (as opposed to NO star) because the overnight staff and the day staff NOT at the front desk are GREAT!
But the FRONT DESK staff that's on between 3pm and 5pm need to be replaced or retrained. However, given that my "inconveniences" could have been handled with a little "courtesy and common sense" I doubt that training will address the issue. You can bank on the following by this group of stellar individuals;
1) being ignored when you walk to the desk
2) being given less than an honest answer to a simple query
3) being given a partial answer to a simple question, which forces you to ask several questions to still end up with a partial answer.
The POSITIVES of the hotel.
1) the rest of the staff (staff NOT at the front desk between hours listed above) are great.
2) the rooms are clean and comfortable
3) the lobby is inviting
4) parking for large vehicles is ample (if not attractive)
What would I suggest if you MUST stay there?
1) Carry your own food (as there is no food in the hotel)
2) Be prepared to pay the extra to UBER/LYFT for every meal
3) Drive your own car for every meal
4) Finally, try not to have any questions that would require you to interact with the staff that's on between 3pm and 5pm (I know! That's not possible).
TO BE FAIR
1) I'm told there is/was a deli in the hotel but they had some "emergency" and were closed or have been closed and will be closed several days.
2) They do have a list of restaurants at the front desk (but apparently no menus)
2a) At least two of the restaurants on the list have suspect sanitation and I wouldn't order bottled water there. How do I know? I walked there and had to walk out.
