Tennova Uses Valley Emergency Physicians of Tennes...
Tennova Uses Valley Emergency Physicians of Tennessee and BEWARE - many insurances do NOT count VEPT as in-network. Though Tennova Hospital charges in-network as the facility used in an emergency, the DOCTORS inside the emergency room belong to a network that bills your ER visit separately and they charge the full price. My insurance could barely touch their charges. I've called to ask for full payment discounts and my insurance has tried to negotiate discounts with them - however, they do not try to help the customer. I had TWO ER visits this year - one when my 9 year old contracted viral meningitis. After Valley ER Physicians of TN charged me over 1700 for that visit *after* insurance, and with no discounts ....I swore off Tennova and their ER doctor group for life. Then, my 3 year old fell and broke her arm in October. The ONLY place I could go in that emergency is Tennova - and I fell into the Valley Emergency Physicians of Tennessee trap again. Again, astronomical out-of-network charges, even though the hospital is in-network.
Next emergency, I hope I have the time so I can drive all the way to Vanderbilt in Nashville. Great staff, great billing arrangements, fair pricing.
