It seems that this company is not hired to do a professional job but bought to disvalue your claim I advise that if your insurance company tells you that they are sending Donan you better request another engineer for your claim! We recently had a flood in our crawl space due to a busted pipe which caused supports to sink into mud which unleveled and busted our brand new floors in our home(3 months old), along with our front door not shutting anymore and some cracked walls. This home was built in the 60 s. We moved in 3 yrs ago and we had steel I-beam supports put in place when we bought it to level the floors. After the house was level and stayed that way for some time, we replaced all of the flooring and sheet rock along with basically a full remodel.
After the flood, the jacks sank in mud and the steel beams dropped, causing our brand new floors to buckle and bust along with our front door not shutting and our sheet rock buckling on the walls. The report from Donan was that all of this damage was caused from the house settling, they DID agree that the jacks sinking was due to the flood but stated that the floors busting was due to the settling of the home. So basically saying that, yeah the acute flood caused the jacks and I beams to fall but they weren t really doing anything, The engineer also stated in his report that some of the jacks were set on 1 paver then directly on dirt. This statement is also 100% false! And he backed it up with a picture. Although in the picture it looks like what he says is true but AGAIN due to the flooding a lot of dirt has been moved around in the crawlspace and if you are to scrape a little of the dirt back you can see that it has gravel and concrete placed under it. I have pictures of every one of the holes that were dug out when the work was done. There was also pictures noted above the cracks in the wall that there was repairs done and he knew that because he could see the fiberglass tape for the sheet rock at the ceiling and wall joint. Which is true but I have not yet installed my crown molding on any ceiling and wall joints in the house and you can see the tape around the entire ceiling, yet he stated that it was a repair! Now Ky Farm bureau says that they will pay to have someone come in and jack the existing supports back up to level the floors but the walls and the flooring are caused from the initial settling of this house that again was built in the early 60s! We have since hired a different engineer to come out and do the inspection once he was done and gave us the report we showed him the one from Donan and he just said wow !
