The vacation in the beautiful thermal hotel with a lot of potential was sadly spoiled by the absolutely miserable service. We also named it Ryanair Hotel because everything costs extra. Cozy loungers cost extra ( 10 / day), as well as renting bicycles ( 16 / day).
We were there for five nights and in four of the restaurants / bars and were NEVER (!) Asked whether something could be brought to us, whether everything was still okay and whether we might, in a crazy way, want a second drink. We always had to look for a waiter for coffee, even at breakfast, and otherwise we were always left on dry land. Really bitter..
Why was the sauna bar not open?
Why was the Vulkania Bar closed in the evenings, even on evenings when the volcano erupts? Lots of people would have brought in business there!
We had a broken mattress (there was a big "hole" in the middle - it was just over). After we asked twice, the staff said the mattress would be turned over - but of course nothing has changed. We then just alternated with the sides so that we only had back pain every other day.
The upholstery smelled unpleasant (like sweat!) We were then changed without motivation. Nobody apologized for upholstery and broken mattresses.
Information was in short supply, you had to ask everything several times before you had the answer and as a guest you always felt annoying. For example, if you are asked to borrow a bike:
"Can you rent bikes?"
"Yes, just go out, choose one and fill out the form."
"Cool. Does that cost anything?"
"Yes of course."
"How much?"
"Well, I think 16 a day. I don't know by heart, but of course it costs something."
How can you get in the mood for anything?
Even little things that you would expect from a four-star hotel were not there - for example a toiletry set or space to hang up towels (generally space!).
It was also in bad weather (when no one could lie outside) MUCH TOO LITTLE SPACE inside. Not everyone could find a lounger, not even we (thanks to anti-social reservation guests too, of course ..) We couldn't go to the pools for half a day either because of thunderstorms and the risk of lightning strikes (as the indoor pools are connected to the outside are) - of course that was just unfortunate.
It's a shame - two stars for the beautiful facility and our top waiter in the steak restaurant! But really only for that.
