There are more expensive hotels and there are cheaper hotels., and Chichikov is one of those comfortably middle of the road hotels that make exploring Kharkiv so much easier. I find this place such a comfortable and reliable hotel with many things that make for a great stay. There's the reliable car service that waits for you at the airport with a sign, allowing you to confidently pass by the taxi touts. There's the small but reliable breakfast buffet in the morning with great wifi reception for catching up on the news or work emails.

As for the rooms, yes, they are of a small and simple nature, but the bathrooms and rooms have been consistently clean on multiple stays. While an English channel would be a nice addition, there's little reason to stay in the room when Ukraine's second biggest city waits to be explored and experienced.

Even if you are not a fan of Gogol, it's hard to pass up such a comfortable and clean hotel in Ukraine.
