I had a terrible and stressful experience with this brokerage. They wasted me numerous weeks and interrogated me as if I was conducting a fraudulent transaction or money laundering. I came to this brokerage due to my trust in and my personal friendship with my broker. But this particular UNDERWRITER asked for a gazillion documents that I was not asked by any other lenders. Mind you, my credit score is excellent and have a stable professional job and great income prospect. Then I was told that they treat young applicants from a certain ethnic background with extra caution. I was left with only one week before closing date because of their UNFOUNDED SUSPICION. I answer all his questions in detail but he still didn t seem believing my employment was legit for some reason that s beyond my comprehension. At the end, he was hung up about 8 cents discrepancy in my pay!! With no approval one week before closing, I had to go to other lenders and brokerages as backup options. CIBC approved me within 3 days and another brokerage told me firmly they would approve me within 2 days, while I felt I was treated as a criminal suspect by Northwood. As someone working in the real estate field, I do not think this is the right way to treat your clients. You will lose potential repeat clients and referral opportunities if you continue doing business this way. Because of this experience, I lost numerous nights of sleep and was prepared not to close on time. I should ve never placed my trust in Northwood. That was a huge mistake!
