Be very wary of Admission RNs, their job is to market and sell services, even in healthcare. Think used car salespersons. Do not believe what they tell you. Jessica, RN admit nurse 'helped' me by arranging transport home to begin hospice services. She told me that my mother must go by cart and they use their preferred provider, Liberty Ambulance (any kickbacks? I have no idea) and if my mother goes by cart it will be fully covered by medicare. That is completely untrue, medicare or most insurance for that matter, will not pay for transport that is not medically necessary. So now I am stuck with an unneeded ambulance charge of $440. My mother could have been transported by wheelchair, which would have been maybe a $100 charge. Calls to Community Hospice. both billing dept and Jessica's supervisor are of no help. The billing dept doesn't return phone calls. The nursing supervisor, Karen, seemed to be reading a disclaimer statement about what they don't cover. Hey Community Hospice, how about reading the disclaimer about payments when selling your product. Just be honest, don't lie or mislead. Instead, these admission RNs will tell you that things will be covered, but just sign here if there are any charges not covered.
