Review of Sunset Scooters

They run this out of a little on-the-beach rental hut that I think mainly does water sports. So you arrive and it s not a store front. It s on the back pool deck of a hotel. There s a bunch of guys running the hut that are pretty much what you think of when you think beach hut rentals.

But overall they got us set up quick and easy so no complaints there. Returning the scooter was no hassle.

But they lost a star on quality of equipment. The scooter we got ran fine and tracked true, but the one of the brakes was metal on metal and I suspect the other was shortly behind it.

The scooter wasn t fast (as to be expected of a 50cc rental), but at times it felt like it was faster to accelerate than decelerate - not so great. The big scooter runs the same engine (per the worker) so I assume it s only even slower to start and slower to stop.

But on that note, they run Revolution X cycles as the small standard scooter if you re interested in looking them up. The thing s speedo has a red background over 30mph though the speedo goes up to 50mph. But just as a note, you re fine for the most part but some of the restaurants and things we went to (all within ~5 miles of the rental place) had speed limits of 45mph. So you re underpowered and a bit of a road block. Luckily those strips of our trips were only about a mile.

Great for some open air cruising and fun, but more expensive and less capable of taking you everywhere you want to go compared to a rental car.
