it was a nightmare. I m highly offended that a children s hospital would show such disregard and concern for the well being of my CHILD. That was my first and last encounter with this hospital. Myself, husband and daughter arrived at the emergency room at 2:30am Jan 28, 2019. We were advised we were 3rd in the waiting list by 3am. My daughter was struggling to breath normally due to a horrible cough which was so bad she was vomiting and could not sleep. The nurses were so aware of how bad it was that when a nurse FINALLY escorted us to a room she said it took so long because she wanted to wait on a private room because they didn t want my daughter s cough to scare other people! First of all that is highly rude to say to ME and most importantly if you see how bad it is enough to take the action to prevent others from hearing it why wasn t it just as important to get her seen ASAP. Because the matter was beyond horrible, she should ve received faster care. Needless to say, we were in a private room waiting to be seen by the doctor from 3am-7am. A doctor only came in after my husband and I continued to complain that it s taking to long. When the doctor came in the room I expressed to her this has been going on over a month and my child s pediatrician recently put her on steroids but this is still awful because my child can t sleep because of the constant cough and vomiting. I literally said what would be the next step she needs something to help her breath. I wasn t aware of what the machines are called that assist kids with doing so but I continued to press and say some kind of machine to help her breath or something next because streroids have not cleared the sickness. She said no we will do an X-ray and see if she swallowed something but she doesn t need that. Continued to speed talk and ignored the fact that I wanted to better understand why she felt it was best. I immediately packed my child up. thanked God she made it through the night and took her to her pediatrician who opened at 8am. She stated my child needs a neubilizer. gave me instructions on how to use it and confirmed it s an infection that is going on but her breathing is not good and she needs the neubilizer. The sad part is I was advised by her doctor and many others to NEVER take her to Texas children s because you are prejudice to children on Medicaid. Money may bring fame but an unkind heart brings SHAME. This hospital is profoundly a shame. I hope it takes a turn for the better because these children are our future and regardless of anything they should always be priority!!!!
