I adopted a 3 year old doxie/bagel mix about 2 moths ago and she suffered from sever separation anxiety. We stuck tons of money into training and what not with no help. A week ago we decided to get her a friend in hopes it would help. We adopted a 1 year old terrier mix on Monday and took her to the vet for her check up on Thursday where everything checked out fine. Come Sunday she was pooping tape worms! Being new dog parents we freaked out and our main concern was that our other dog didn't get the worms too! The type of tape worms she had come from eating fleas which the vet at the emergency clinic said she contracted while at the shelter. We contacted the shelter on Monday when they opened to let them know what happened in hopes they could help us out with and they were not helpful or willing to help us out. We have had this dog for a week and have spent over $1000 on her. I am very upset with the whole experience and how it is being handled because I adopted a dog thinking everything was fine with her and it wasn't. On a happy note our other dog loves her and no longer has separation anxiety, all she needed was a friend.
