The museum presents to the public about 700 paintings, chosen from a collection of 2,000 works, in 35 rooms in a chronological order that does not propose a division of the European painting schools. The richest sections are Venetian painting of the Renaissance, painting of the seventeenth century, French painting of the nineteenth century and painting of the first half of the twentieth century.
