My grandmother has been hospitalized on three sepa...

My grandmother has been hospitalized on three separate occasions at this hospital and I believe that this hospital is the worst in terms of elderly care and patient care. Recently, I have been to Mt. Sinai for my grandfather's hospitalization, Hospital for Special Surgery for my father, Long Island Jewish (Manhasset) for my sister-in-law, Columbia Presbyterian for my father-in-law and Yale New Haven hospital for the birth of my two children. I have been so happy to deal with their doctors and their staff at the above-mentioned hospitals. At Maimonides, I had to repeatedly call for the nurses/aides for my grandmother's diaper to be changed and sometimes the wait would be over an hour long. At one point, my grandmother was suffering so much that I asked for pain medication. It took the doctor an hour to send the order down to his nurse. On one occasion, I was visiting my grandmother for five hours and I have not seen a doctor show his/her face the entire time. I felt like I was constantly fighting for care for my grandmother. My aunt who was my grandmother's primary caregiver was constantly fighting with the hospital staff, too. In the interim, my grandmother was in so much pain... After haphazardly discharging my grandmother, she had to be re-hospitalized within 24 hours, which ultimately made her weaker and sicker. She passed away last month. Since this was the closest hospital, she had little choice, but for people who can choose to go elsewhere, for the sake of your loved ones, please do!
