Nick DeMarco Review of The Funplex

I have no doubt that my view of this place is jaundiced by my age (56) and frugality. We took our 4 year old grand-nephew there recently, and while he seemed to enjoy himself a bit (as much as I would have expected), I had a more miserable visit.
We started with bowling, me and the whippersnapper. "Two games, with shoes, $16" ended up being one game each. Seems a bit pricey for a single game on a lane that clearly sloped to the left. (Okay, so I lost to the whippersnapper. Still, for the money, the ball shouldn't slope...)
Next, the outdoor rides were closed (it was around 5 pm, and maybe there was a good reason, but I wasn't aware of one). That was okay, there were lots of indoor machines designed to take your mon... er, provide your kids with entertainment. I guess they did the job, somewhat. They sure emptied the expensive electronic card we'd loaded with credits fast.
We had tasty (but expensive) fries and overpriced drinks during the visit. All in all, it reminded me (in many, many ways) of a recent experience at Wildwood's boardwalks with the kids: fun, overpriced, and leaving you wanting more. At least we didn't have to drive two hours to feel like that...
