Providing English courses as a second language and other services
For the good attention the respect and dedication of their workers.
Perfect attention from everyone and they really help you
They are really helpful the only problem is long waiting time even if you have appointment
I don't recommend YMCA for any refugee. Such a horrible service, refugees are left hopeless and slow moving with processes such as getting their SSN, vaccination, school enrollment and employment. Either YMCS's management is to blame or the staff are incompetent for the job. Case workers do not answer phone calls as if their clients are asking for personal favor rather their job responsibility.
They are great, very good customer service and polite people.
Son buenos, muy buena atencion al cliente y muy educados.
A center where the first time you see is love for human beings and equality between them ...
Excellent workers, thank you very much for your help
The protection against the Coronavirus is so much that it makes customer service lose quality too extreme
Great place to get practice for your citizenship.
They do everything to help you learn.
wonderful people!!
This place is very safe, everybody feel home and served without discrimination.
I have been 8 months and I had never had this situation but I had an accident and I could not go personally and the receptionists hang you up. How inhuman
A refugee supporting organization .. good costumer service
It offers great service and its workers are committed to helping them solve their problem.
I had the best help for my familys introduction to US. They are taking care of them about almost everything. Janvier and Kerry are the best!
Still it is a NGO so do not expect anything like customer service. Since this is Houston they have probably much higher volume of immigrants than any other cities. If you do follow your case they will follow it as well but they cannot do everything for you.
Spectacular office, which has a great service to all who come to her for help
If your time and/or hopes regarding your current legal predicament are of issue, be cautious of this office.
In July 2013, as an eager and newly licensed attorney (UH Law/Texas Licensed), I applied to offer PRO BONO AND VOLUNTEER French translation services, to this office, in the hopeful exchange of gaining fundamental experience in Immigration Law. I interviewed, was selected, then shown the office.
The next day, I sent a thank you card to the staff attorney who interviewed me, director Brian Schaeffer. A few days thereafter, I returned to the office, as instructed by Mr. Schaeffer, to pick up my ID. I noted his car in the small parking area, (I'd seen it when I interviewed a few days prior and found that it was his vehicle), but I was told by the receptionist that he was not in the office that day - the day I was asked to drive all the way back, to retrieve the necessary paperwork and ID, etc. I travelled all the way back home, called, left messages, sent several emails over the course of a year, and no communication was ever returned.
While I understand there may have been a change in the decision to allow my volunteering, to completely cease communication, blatantly ignore my many efforts to communicate, and for the then receptionist to lie that he was no longer available, is unprofessional and unacceptable; and this many years later, still regrettable. This was my first introduction to law practice culture, I was overwhelmingly disasspointed by the blatant disregard for my time, hope, and inspiration. With no regard to my many "follow up" attempts, the interview proved itself to have been a staged quota fill, and nothing more.
Should you seek immigration services, your time is far more critical than mine was - use it wisely, as you have legal statutory timeframes that cannot and should not be trifled. I was toyed with, for reasons I will never know, but would like to warn others: seek counsel in a less crowded, more organized, and forthcoming office. Do not allow this office, regardless of their pro-bono services, to usurp your opportunity and legal status. There are many pro-bono legal aid offices like this throughtout the Houston area - seek them. Otherwise, be cautious, here.
Great first-rate and non-profit classes of English and citizenship.
My personal experience was very disappointing, it turns out that before heading to the offices I called to see if they could attend to what they answered YES, I drove almost 2 hours I arrived at 10 in the morning and when I arrived they simply told me that they already had Too many people to attend and that they could not attend me, What a disappointment that they work so badly and on top of that when I tell them to call and they told me that if they could attend to me they tell me that I will have to wait several hours and in the end I certainly do not know if They may or may not attend me. IT SEEMS VERY WRONG TO PROCEED WITH THE ATTITUDE OF THE RECEPTIONIST WITHOUT ANYTHING OF RESPECT OR EDUCATION. Thank you anyway, I WILL NEVER TRY TO RECEIVE A SERVICE FROM YOU AGAIN BECAUSE THEY GAVE ME A LOT TO THINK ABOUT THE SERVICE YOU OFFER.
Nice place, for first timer, there is a consultation fee of $40 and its open on Wednesdays 9am .......4pm. i think!
I work for the Y and can honestly say I love working here. My co-workers are great. We work to provide excellent customer service to each and every one of our client's. We provide services for Asylum, Refuge, Parole and VOT. We help with SNAP, MEDICAID, Immigration Services, Employment Services, and many more services.
Amazing employees, especially Mrs Salimah. Always have a smile on their faces and are actually impacting lives in a positive way. Keep doing what you are doing.
Because they help and support political refugees and their families
Thanks to all the agency workers for their attention
Not good service special Tedros bad .rude . disrespectful man
For me it is the best refugee agency in Houston, when our family and I arrived in this great country, this agency was the one that attended us and we were very pleased, Thank you YMCA.
Citizenship classes are excellent with Cathy and assistant. You need to have parole to qualify for classes.
They Care About All Mankind. They Know All Lives Matter, No Matter Where They From, Their Nationality, Their Color Or Their Religion.
I really like this place, because it has almost everything I need, while my daughter is in her Karate class oh swimming I can exercise and I know that my baby is well taken care of, all that in one place, it's amazing.
Located on the second floor. Long wait to speak to someone and advice wasnt great
Very attentive workers of the NGO. They have guided me so far quite well, although the process is slow, but all the procedures are progressing.
Nice friendly and helpful people. They try their best to help! GOD bless them.

YMCA International Services: Empowering Communities and Changing Lives
YMCA International Services is a non-profit organization that is part of the YMCA of Greater Houston. The organization is dedicated to empowering communities and changing lives by providing a variety of programs, classes, and services to people in need.
The YMCA of Greater Houston has been serving the community for over 130 years. It was founded in 1886 with the mission to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. Today, the YMCA serves more than 500,000 individuals annually through its various programs.
YMCA International Services was established in 1979 as a response to the growing number of refugees coming to Houston from Southeast Asia. Since then, it has expanded its services to include immigrants from all over the world who are seeking refuge or resettlement in Houston.
The organization's main goal is to help these individuals become self-sufficient members of society by providing them with education, job training, language classes, legal assistance, and other essential services. YMCA International Services also offers counseling and support groups for those who have experienced trauma or are struggling with mental health issues.
One unique aspect of YMCA International Services is its focus on family reunification. Many refugees are separated from their families during their journey to safety. The organization works tirelessly to reunite families by helping them navigate complex immigration laws and procedures.
In addition to its refugee resettlement program, YMCA International Services also offers citizenship classes for those seeking naturalization as well as cultural orientation classes that help newcomers adjust to life in America.
Another important program offered by YMCA International Services is its human trafficking prevention program. This program provides education and resources for vulnerable populations such as youth at risk or those living in poverty who may be targeted by traffickers.
Overall, YMCA International Services plays an important role in helping immigrants and refugees integrate into American society while preserving their cultural heritage. Its commitment towards empowering communities has made it one of the most respected organizations working towards this cause today.
