On vacation. Went for dinner. Got great reviews so checked it out. My kinda place all the way. Very charming and friendly atmosphere. Excellent service and outstanding food! Had steak tips and added stuffed shrimp. Fabulous. Clam chowder, scallops and stuffed clams were awesome. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and done right. Best baked clams I've ever had, and I've had plenty growing up on Long island.

Had a reservation but still had to wait half an hour to be seated. Took the waitress half an hour to come to the table to even take drink orders and then forgot some drinks. Ordered apps which were good but the waitress didn't come back for drink refills or a dinner order for another thirty minutes. Then tells us that they're out of prime rib. That's something you should mention when you seat someone considering it's on your sign out front. Seems like the food would be good but it's not worth waiting hours to order and being ignored for. Will never return to this place.

Last 2 times here I have been disappointed. Their fried clams were limp and soggy. This time I tried the duck, it had the taste, smell and consistency of liver. I found out that I was not the first one to complain about it but they are still serving it. Some people in our party did enjoy their meals but there are too many great restaurants in the area for me to waste my money here again.

Horrible customer service. My grandmother and her book club were banned from the Windward Grill because they were said to have displayed rude behavior. They had their room booked a year in advance and were of course upset when they arrive to see their table was given away, which was not in the wrong or the book club, but the restaurant.

This is an outstanding resteraunt in a charming building. The menu is amazing and the food is fabulous! The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable. We were visiting from out of town but if we lived near by I can assure you we would be there every week. If you are in the area this is a must.

First, I shall give credit to our waitress! She did a good job and I have no reason to include her in my complaint.
Upon entering and being seated, I soon realized that this place is likely a popular night out for those who wish to spend a good amount of money on a sub-par meal. Our appetizer was enjoyable, but the chicken piccata entree we ordered was a soggy mess, lacking the appropriate flavors. Grilled asparagus to accompany our chicken dish (3 pieces), was steamed and certainly not grilled. Whoops, I forgot to mention the bread that came out right after we were seated. The bread was pretty dense and stale. I would urge folks to avoid this restaurant, until they begin to make meals that are enjoyable and do not resemble something that is served in a school cafeteria, hospital, or nursing home.
Windward management-> you could do so much better!!!

Went for wife's birthday and we are pretty regular. Asked for surprise piece if cake with candle, twice, told all set and... not all set. After $100+ brought the bill, looking at waitress, finally like you forgetting something? And.... nothing, just the bill. So I say the birthday thing and...oh yeah, I'm sorry I forgot. I'll go get it. Uh, drinks were cleared, everything else, just a bill. So reload drinks and cheernfrom a cleared tablenfornthencake desert thing? She insisted we take the cake anyway, And she just brought in a take out to complete the ruin the birthday thing. I'm pissed. So here is the big birthday celebration instead of a little of fanfare, sharing and fun. Oh and the argument in the car on the way home because I was pissed, and she didn't want me to be mad because we go there all the time so now there is a car battle about me being mad ruining more than it being screwed up. Big fun.. So annoying. Dinner part was good though. Sucks it ends like this. Still mad.

A quaint restaurant with a friendly wait staff. We arrived for our reservation and our table was ready and they didn't blink an eye when we added one at the last minute. The food was delicious. Came out hot and the fried seafood was not at all greasy. We had a great Mothers Day lunch here.

Although my fish was great ... this is second time my spouse got the mixed grill Don't GET THIS.. We were assured on the phone it would be better this time. Both times ordered the tips rare and came out very well done and the chicken was like a hockey puck and dry as dust the only saving grace was the sweet potato fries.. they are great

Just discovered this little gem on the MA coast. Seafood Audrey is fantastic; the atmosphere is lovely, everything was clean, well-maintained and the staff were very pleasant. My only issue seemed to be the time betweeen ordering and receiving the meal. Seemed to be a tad long. The dining room was hopping though, and the wait staff was ALWAYS hustling. No one was ignoring us. I have told everyone at work when in the Essex area; make sure you have a meal here.

Always an enjoyable experience at Windward Grill. Owners, Tim and Vicky are warm and welcoming. Victoria's most excellent culinary skills are a delight! If you haven't had a chance to experience Windward Grill. I highly recommend it. Sitting by the fireplace is makes for an intimate dining room.

What a wonderful place to eat. The food and drinks are terrific and very reasonable. I believe I ve had just about everything on the menu except some desserts, and I ve never been disappointed. Vicky and Tim know how to run a fantastic waitstaff and bar. The waitstaff is pleasant, efficient and always willing to help. I have my favorite waitresses but every one is professional and gracious. Thanks for being so special in an age of mediocrity. When you care, it shows. Special Kudos go out to Courtney who is the consummate waitress.
It s always a pleasure to see everyone working together smoothly and with a smile.

A nice restaurant in a very old building, I believe the building was here in 1675! I had scallops which came out in a generous portion, piping hot, and flavorful. The server did everything well and the overall experience was relaxing. My only minor critique is that we sat in the booth where the leather padding was torn up and in definite need of replacing.

The food was excellent, very reasonably priced. The one thing I would caution is when you make reservations and they ask if you can climb stairs say NO. The area we were seated in was up a flight of stairs and felt very isolated from the restaurant experience. The service was good but a few times felt like we were not fully attended. I believe that was due to our seating in the "attic". This space is not a loft with a view of the restaurant and there are no window views either. I will definitely go back but will never be seated up there again.
