Willow Valley Resort

We had a nice time here. Was in a nice location and had nice amenities. Good In between location between Boone and Linville. Everyone should always go to the Mast General Store while staying here in Valle Cricus. Hope to return to the area soon!

Cabin 8 was suitable. At day of checkin, nice staff, fast and easy and smooth checkin. At checkout, we were told the deposit would take a few days to fall off the credit card. . We just checked, well, there was a housekeeping charge for dirty sheets which is totally NOT true and the resort refuses to remove it. Now, we are in dispute process with the credit card company because THE resort refuses to remove their LIE of a charge. OVER 30+ years of travel, we have NEVER been charged a housekeeping fee till this resorts housekeepers chose to lie. Needless to say, we will NEVER stay here again. Oh. When I spoke to the Asst manager about the erroneous charge , I voiced my opinion on their housekeepers and she in turn said "we would love to comment on some of the people that stay and how they leave things" , or something to that effect.
Again, won't be staying there again!

We arrived yesterday late afternoon... overall it is a cabin, it looks nice... we are not expecting luxury but we are paying $$$ so we expect comfort! Bads are horrendous... super uncomfortable! Old/cheap mattresses. One fan was damaged. We were extremely hot so started opening all the windows then we notice that the heater was on!!!! The cleaning was not the best, there are some spider webs, some dead bugs on the floor and counters. Towels are super old and rough. Linens overall are very very cheap, old and bad. Again... we were not expecting luxury but the maintenance of basic stuff is too poor. We are not happy at all!

My kids and I stayed in one of the cabins for a few days before Christmas. It was rustic, but nice. The staff was very pleasant and helpful.

Nice area, not too far from Boone. The units themselves were fine, except that the lighting was horrible. Very little exterior lighting made it potentially dangerous to go out after dark. Bedroom lighting is completely dependent upon sunlight, and the two lowlight end table lamps are practically useless once the sun has passed or it's overcast. The second bedroom with no natural light is lit with the same two low lamps Otherwise it was fine.

Our 10th year we have stayed a week at Willow Valley. Love this place. Beautiful views of surrounding mountains. Great 9 hole golf course and a very nice pool. We always stay in a two bedroom two bath Chalet. These units now have mini-split a/c! Nice during the warmer summer months. Nicely maintained and always clean. Staff members are great and very knowledgeable of area things to do. They have many units from rustic cabins to two bedroom chalets.

If you go expecting clean, then I strongly suggest you not go. Everything is very old and needs to be replaced inside and out.
The girl at the desk wasn't very helpful at all and couldn't answer any questions.
This is the 1st time I've stayed at a resort that isn't gold crown and will definitely be my last. RCI should definitely re-evaluate This resort.

The resort is as good as any RCI resort promises, but it lacks facilities provided by RCI resorts in other parts of the world.

They had a real bad spider infestation...I've never seen that many spiders come out at night...All above your head on the walkway...I was scared they were going to drop on my head. They also need more channels on their cable. They also need TVs in both bedrooms instead of just one. It is a beautiful place. I am an owner and have been going there since I was little.

Great golf getting getting better every year I own a unit visit once every year for a week love the place pool needs resurfacing but I'll be back next year

The location is hard to access due to some current road work. But otherwise it's beautifully located in the mountains. The staff very friendly, I was greeted by smiling faces. Everything was neat and tidy. Just a beautiful experience all around.

This was our first time there. I was disappointed in how dated the chalets were. Thankfully we didn't find any bedbugs.There were huge spiders, but they were outside. The grill in front of our unit was embedded in cement at such an angle that anything placed on it would land on the ground. The stove was hard to tell if it was on or off. You think you've turned it off & an hour later it's still hot. Or, you think you've turned it on & it never gets hot. I did tell the office about it at check out.

I'm in what appears to have been a nice 2 story cabin once, which has been made into stacked duplexes. I was expecting something more 'in the woods' rustic, but found myself in a 1980s throw-back retroesque golf course overlook. The course seems small, more like a natural grass putt-putt. However, we came to hike, explore, and adventure through life. This place is great for that. We were able to buy groceries for the week, as it has a full, albeit small, kitchen. This means more gas $ for finding off the beaten path spots. We're close to a couple of bigger towns, but in the middle of a more rural region - so we don't have to drive far to our next adventure. Which means more to do per day! The wrap-around porch is nice, but could use some chairs, so we can relax at home-base and still enjoy nature. It is 27*f outside as I write this, and yet still rather warm inside. The windows seal nicely when closed, but do open either a few inches when the secure-open locks are engaged, or fully open if disengaged. The AC units are nice, and well placed, though not particularly needed. There are baseboard heaters, which seem to lack an off option, even all the way cold on the thermostat they turn on, and clink/tick when heating. The interior decoration as well as handful of issues could use some love. Very dated, but clean. The hot water comes out milky. The kitchen comes with a glass cutting board - which has completely dulled every knife here, but being this is somewhat coomon, we've acquired a knife sharpener. Things to bring besides the normals: *all* toiletries, including toilet paper and hand soap; knife and/or wood/plastic board or/and sharpener (if cooking); power strip if you have electrical things - there are plenty of outlets, just not where needed or are being used; and there are two coat hooks, however coats interfere with the fridge door, so maybe a plastic over-the-door robe cook or two, or toss em on the big comfy couch. There seems to be a wifi accesspoint in each unit, with the info on a fridge magnet - which is nicely done, imho. All in all, its' still better than staying with family, and the privacy / seclusion and nature activity access is abundantly more important than vanity/luxery/aesthetics - I am sure when I come in after a 12 hr hike, even this mattress will be inviting, crunchy springs and all. Seriously, this pkace is not for the hotel-camper, the spoiled and demanding, but its perfect as a home-base for doing things in the Appalachian mountains region of North Carolina. Oh, and bring tp.

We own a timeshare unit here and they really need to update the place. However, it's adequate, a good price and a great location.

I've played golf at Willow Valley several times. I go because it's so cheap and easy to play. It isn't very nice and sometimes there is a very rude man working in the golf shop and I've avoided going here several times just because of him. The greens tend to be very rough and slow, but you can't beat the price so that's why I keep going back.

Desk staff are friendly and the cabins are clean and have everything u need to start your week. Very relaxing

We forgot to call ahead to say we would be arriving late, and still by chance found someone able to help us get signed in at 10pm on a rainy night. They were incredibly friendly, fast, and helpful, and the chalet is great too!

Wonderful place, really quiet. Cabins were amazing. Each room has its own temperature control which was quite nice.

The beds were comfy, the cabins clean, the pillows were of good quality too.

The provided dishes, silverware, and glass cups were a nice touch as well.

Check in and check out were a breeze. Will definitely be back.

One of the most relaxing places I know. Always enjoy coming here.

Beautiful property perfect for snow time visiting but our condo unit was pretty run down and could use some serious updating. I could deal with everything but the squeeky beds on shaky frames makes it impossible to get any sleep during your vacation there

Absolutely love going here in the winter. The fireplace is absolutely beautiful, cabins are well equipped, everything is very close. Peaceful and tranquil.

Tee boxes and greens need some TLC, staff was very friendly and helpful.

Very old rooms and terrible service. The photos we received of the room painted a whole different picture than when we walked in ours. Very musty, broken counter, aluminum covered stove. When we went back to the office after walking in and out of the room the lady laughed at us and said they were still going to charge us a 30% minimum. DO NOT STAY HERE!

My husband and I just checked out of one of the cabins which is such a quiet, quaint, cozy cabin. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs to make this a magnificent vacation. There is so much to do in the surrounding area. We even cut a fresh Christmas tree to take back to Florida! Getting to this resort is so easy and convenient! Took advantage of the indoor pool and spa. We would definitely come back!!

This was a great cabin to stay in. It was set in the woods and was a quiet get away. I would go back at any time of the year.

The place is old and needs a lot of work. Furniture is hard to sit on, dishwasher is original from when it was built. The fireplace blew smoke in even though the damper was open. Cabinets painted over so many times they stick, doors are peeling and the place smelled like urine.

Resort...thats a joke. DO NOT think about this place as an option. I am a homeowner in the surrounding area and these people are the absolute most unprofessional. I have a friend that walks with me in the morning and they yell at her for cutting through the parking lot with her dog...she's not walking it ON the golf course or around it, just through the parking lot to my home. She walks through a small part of the rough, to get there...that's it! And they yell at her.

Not only did they say no dogs allowed, they proceeded to LIE to her that the homeowners would complain. She doesn't even pass any homes on her way to my house! Plus, I am a homeowner AND I have a dog! He told her he was going to have 3 complaints just today from her walking her dog there...which is a lie! Almost every homeowner on hole 5 & 6 has a dog!

These people are liars! I spent a lot of money golfing there in the past...but they will not get a dime from me anymore! Nor will they from any other person I know. And you shouldn't give them your money either. Treating people like that...telling a lie for no reason...its disgraceful.

Don't waste your time here either...it's no resort, it's a joke. I sad that people think they can treat people like that.

It had been a while since we stayed at this facility so was not sure what to expect. This time we had a 2 bedroom / 2 bath condo with a sleeper sofa and fireplace. It was comfy, roomy and clean -- very nice. Close to Boone, Sugar & Beech Mountains.

Super clean, beautiful landscapes, great staying on the golf course

I live nearby, and i have to say, while they appear to treat the guests nice. The owner of the golfcourse can be quite rude. I've been yelled at before for "walking my dog on the course" which, if you want to be technical, i was, but it was either walk on the fringe of the course, or walk on a busy road.

BED BUGS!!! Stay away! Found over 10 live bed bugs in Cabin 2 in a matter of less than 5 minutes. The entire corner was covered in bed bug droppings. No way the cleaning staff are doing their jobs, as someone had just check our prior to us checking in and all of that feces accumulation did not happen that quickly on the mattress cover. Cleaning staff should have notified management. There was bed bug feces in the sheets as well. Extremely nasty! Hopefully they get an exterminator and not just send they cleaning staff back in to change the sheets!

The resort is not what it seems online. The resort is very out dated and we found bugs daily in the room. The parking is not good and there are pot holes in the pavement outside. The kitchen is outdated and so are the bathroom/bedroom. I traded in time from a timeshare and would never do this again. This is the first and last time I will stay with Willow Valley Resorts.

Great location among many outdoor mountainous hiking areas that are family friendly & easily accessible. Multiple park areas also. Wish the golfing was available earlier in the morning

Very close to Boone and the rooms are nice but not up to date. All of the staff is very friendly and helpful!

We had cabin 1 which was ideal for two people. Parking was a little tight and there was no air conditioning. A recently installed heat pump/ac was inoperable. Our unit had no jacuzzi so online the states despite the wonderful back porch with two rocking chairs.

This a fun but challenging 9 hole, par 3 layout. The greens were excellent in August 2019. The roughs were tall in many places making accurate tee shots necessary. Ponds and a babbling creek comes into play on about 6 holes. There are elevation changes, but a walkable course. I loved my 18 hole round here.

Easy enough to find. Close to local attractions and business. Very quiet and clean.

Loved the location and Boone, but the place we stayed in was in need of some maintenance and was not that well equipped.

Not to bad. Not exactly luxurious cabins, but comfortable.

Rustic Resort in the Mountains. We visited this conveniently located resort located just outside Boone, NC over Labor Day weekend. Having read the reviews, I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. We were in Condo C, located in a four-plex on the edge of the resort. It was clean with relatively new furnishings and hardwood floors. The biggest down side was no air conditioning, but they did provide several fans and we stayed comfortable except during late afternoon. Since we were out taking in the sights at that time it wasn't a problem. There was not a washer/dryer in the Unit, but free access to the laundry was available after 4:30 PM. It is convenient to Boone Area Ski Resorts and Blue Ridge Parkway. This would make a great base for the short local ski season. There is a nice indoor pool and golf course on site, which together with all the local attractions, make this a reasonable place for families or those looking for a quite, restful trip to get away from the hustle and bustle. As long as you are not expecting a 5 star resort and are happy with clean, simple accommodations then Willow Valley fits the bill.

Staff was amazing. RCI messed up our reservations. And heather and staff made our 22nd anniversary great. Thank you all.

It's cute clean and cozy. Great view of the mountains and quiet. Fresh paint new carpet and very clean. Plus lots to do in the surrounding area. I will be back

Our cabin was beautiful and quiet and secluded. There was a great retro playground for the kids and a flea market within walking distance. If you needed wifi you had to go to the checking building. It was nice quiet and comfy. It was so nice in the mountains and close to Boone and Grandfather Mountain and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

AWESOME Par 3 course. Excellent choice for the beginner and experienced golfer. Active Duty and Veteran discount!

Oh Bistro Roca! Just devine every time we go! Had the most amazing Brussels sprout salad and habi burger, which was cooked perfectly. The atmosphere, service and food are just the best.

Location is within half an hour of many fun activities. The gold course was well maintained and fair priced and the views were great. Not much else you could ask for!

For a par 3 course I was surprised on how well-kept it was. Enjoyed my time there immensely. If I was to give one negative comment, it would be directed to anyone reading this, as well as to the management of the golf course. For all you golfers out there, that are reading this; please, please, please, FIX YOUR DIVOTS on the Green! Come on people that's golf 101 that you learn when you first start playing, but yet so important. This is definitely one of my pet peeves. Probably because my golf coach in high school, as well as other avid golfers that I've played with, have given me the following advice; a good rule of thumb has always been to repair your divot plus one more. If we all did that we would put better and be less aggravated. Plus, I think it's decent common courtesy to look out for our fellow golfers and not leave the greens and such pitiful shape. For the golf course management, you all need to come up with a better way to convince your players to fix their divots. Post more signs, as a reminder, on the golf carts, in the clubhouse, and in the bathrooms. Find some good quality, really cool looking, divot fixing tools to give away to your golfers for about 6 months to a year. But for the most part thank you for an enjoyable evening on the links.

Wonderful golf, extra clean private log cabins. Have visited here at least 5 times summer and fall.

Wonderful New Years Get away in the cutest cabin ever. Willow Valley is always our stay choice but we have a new favorite cabin! Staff were so accommodating & friendly as always!

Beautiful wood cabin, though there was a ton of graffiti in the upstairs closets. Previous guests made it into a scavenger hunt inside the cabin, but we didn't investigate further. Pool is small, but enclosed in a greenhouse of sorts. Location is absolutely stunning, you won't be able to get to everything you would like in a week. No internet access, though I feel that is the point when staying here.

Our last family vacation for this year was wonderful at the cabin! Beautiful views and great amenities. We were close to all the shopping and attractions also. We would love to come back next year!

Golf course is a complete joke, website is garbage, staff extremely unhelpful, the greens on the golf course are basically the rough, not well maintained at all, too expensive to be such trash when you can easily travel 15 minutes and have absolutely everything better for a cheaper price.

Older units but in good working order, good location outside of Boone, will return, loved it here.

We stayed in the condos. They were awesome! The front staff was very friendly, and even cleared up an issue with my reservation in seconds. The views are breathtaking and there's a lot to do in the area. Unlike some other vacation spots, Boone has a ton of grocery stores, restaurants, and recreational activities. I will absolutely stay at Willow Valley again!

Good par 3 to have fun at. Don't expect fast greens or posh conditions, but enjoy an affordable golf round.

We have only played golf there. Great course. Very challenging 9 hole Par 3! Course is in great condition! Tim the manager was extremely friendly and very helpful!!! Hospitality at its finest there at this fun and challenging Par 3! Will definitely be going back!

The unit was pretty clean and we'll stocked, but badly needed updated. Worn out blankets on bed, furniture was stained, hole in bathroom door.

The resort is older and does show its age in spots. We had a 1 bedroom condo with full kitchen that was equipped with a/c. Likely a recent improvement. The living room tv has been updated with an hd tv and dvd player. Bedroom tv is still an older crt. The price for the resort is in line with amenities (indoor swimming pool) and it is in a great location to enjoy the Appalachians.
