I wish this place had a clear concept and following some basic hygiene rules. It seems like they want to sell as much in result a confused, overpriced store.
Walking into the space and see a bunch of stuff ( way overpriced which is comical ) with no logic placed all over, you feel intimidated. I will make no comments for the fact that you have to walk through a gross meat display area in order a coffee or food. ( who designed that? )
One star from me. Please kindly inform your staff that when they handle food they should wash their hand first. Also, they required to wear and change gloves. I m surprised none have reported you yet.

The Chef's Table Dinners are truly an authentic Italian experience, with great food and wines. I am originally from Italy and this is an hidden gem in Georgetown. They offer the dinner upstairs couple of days a week with reservation. The menu changes throughout the month giving a great selection of menus and wines. I love to pick the dinners that reminds me some of my Italian memories or the wine's dinners, but all of them are great. The last one I had was the truffle dinner with chef Simone Proietti Pesci, a very talented chef originally from the Umbria region in Italy. Homemade pasta with black truffles that just arrived from Italy that day, bruschetta, meat and dessert also with truffles... I was in heaven! I will go back again next week for a wine dinner, can't wait. Grazie Simone!

Server lost our ticket or forgot to put it in. We waited 25 minutes before we called our server over and asked for our first courses. We then waited an additional 45 minutes before having to ask our server for our entrees. We asked that our complaints be taken to the manager and we were told there wasn't one.

Cute neighborhood shop and cafe. You can get a quick lunch in the back, fresh deli meats and cheeses, all Italian specialties, imported candies, cookies, pasta , oil, vinegar, and more. Some fresh produce. Lots of Italian ceramics and beautiful serving pieces. Friendly staff.

I was so unpleasant with my visit here. The food was extremely overpriced. The donuts I purchase was ROCK hard. It was a million fruit flies near the muffins & donut case. I seen a few cockroaches near the entrance once leaving out. A friend of mines shared her experience and mentioned she saw a couple mices running around like they were playing hide and seek in some sort. THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE I WISH SHE WOULD HAVE VISIT BEFORE I DID !!!!! Someone needs to call the health department ASAP !!!!!!!! Plus I believe they are racist having the African American workers working in the back, the Whites working up front & the Hispanics as the cooks. This place needs to be shut down !!!!!!

I was reminded to write this when I walked past the other day. Some time ago I ordered some food to take away and some bottles of water. We then realised we didn't need all that water and asked for a credit for one bottle (after we had paid). The unsmiling, unwelcoming guy with the attitude said he had credited us the something like $3 for the water. I asked for a till receipt. He said he couldn't provide one and why did we need it? "I told you I've done it". Guess what? No credit. Astonishingly poor service. Never been back.

Used to love the place and as born and raised souther Italian I reccomended it to many friends despite the overpriced cost of many products....however recently the store has been selling spoiled cheese, dry and not adequately preserved cured meat and paying less attention on freshness of products and adequate refrigeration and preservation of some fresh products
A great disappointment, historical stores like Vace and Italian Store remain more reliable

Thank you for bringing Italy to D.C. I had never been there but stumbled upon this amazing food shop/cafe/restaurant/wine shop/Italian kitchen essentials shop by pure luck. I was invited to join the owner Suzy and her friend Susan for lunch and it was an absolute delight to hear how this concept came to be. Heading there again next time I am in town! Thank you for making my lunch perfect wrapping up a little "me time" :) I can't wait to see you ladies again and having another meal at your establishment of many dimensions!

This place does not sacrifice quality for price, so it can get expensive but its delicious. We purchased deli meats and coffees for breakfast and it was all very good. The gentleman behind the coffee bar was running the whole show back there as best he could. He maybe needs a helper to make things faster.

My friend hosted a group lunch to celebrate her 60th birtbday. The upstairs private dinning room was perfect. The chef made a four course meal that was enjoyed by all. Wonderful outside patio where we had proseco and wine before we sat down to eat. A wonderful spot upstairs to hold a special group lunch or dinner!

Viva Italia! What a treasure trove of Italian imported cheeses, olives, cured meats and wines. There is a casual cafe in the back showcasing handcrafted Murano glass and china. A variety of games brings a smile to the young at heart. The home made pasta will take you on a culinary escape to Tuscany. Highly recommend the salad called Sweet n Spicy Greens .

THREE STARS ONLY DUE TO TWO ISSUES.
ONE.Really trying to understand why all the whites are in the front, and blacks serving in the back, and Spanish cooks, seems abit "SEGREGATED CUSTOMER SERVICE KIND OF GET OUT KIND OF FEEL",.I ONLY BOUGHT A BLUEBERRY MUFFIN AND A SALAD,WATCHING THEM PREP WAS ALSO A PLUS, !!!!
JUST I SEE RACE PLAYS A BIG PART OF SKILLS IN THIS PLACE.
TWO. THE SECOND ISSUE THE CRUMBS...THERE WERE CRUMBS EVERYWHERE,IN MY SEAT AND UNDER MY TABLE.. PLEASE TELL THE EMPLOYEES TO SWEEP,THAT WILL probably HELP THE NETS I NOTICED BUZZING AROUND MY FOOD AND MUFFIN!
