VC Summer Nuclear Generating Station

This power plant sucks... I'm having to burn coal now to power my double-wide!

My step dad worked there for years until the early 2000's. him and all of his friends that worked there died at a young age of very rear cancers. but yeah that is why they pay good money. you can have an office job that sends you to an early grave.

The food was pretty good, but the waiters were a bit surly and had sidearms. The fries seemed microwaved and glowed in the dark. Overall, I'd recommend it.

Honestly, I've had better, but the price is right. Our food came quickly, and it handled well. Would fly again?

The VC Summer Nuclear Plant project, Units 2 and 3, was abruptly cancelled by the owners on July 31, 2017. Approximately 5,600 workers were told to go home and don't come back. The negative economic consequences of the project cancellation in the surrounding area will be far reaching and long lasting. Rate payers still have to pay for the multi-billion dollar boondoggle. Many reasons for the failure of the VC Summer Plant Units 2 and 3 have been given. The fact is that construction of four similar AP1000 Nuclear plants have already been completed; 2 in Sanmen China and 2 in Haiyang China. Two AP1000 Nuclear plants continue to be constructed in Waynesboro, GA. Why has China has succeeded where the VC Summer Plant has failed? Some people blame it on poor project management.

Good to see that some investors actually calculate the real costs before sinking billions of tax payers dollars into unprofitable technology of the last century.

Still here hoping and praying we can get up and running.

writing a review in response to Richard Hough: nuclear radiation is contained and is well below the lethal dose. each employee is given a radiation dosimeter, if working in radiated conditions, to ensure that their radiation dose does not exceed CONSERVATIVE limits. I am very skeptical of Richard's review and believe it to be untrue.

nevertheless, it is a great site and is providing clean energy. Westinghouse is currently providing AP1000 units to expand VC Summer power.
