A very intimit theater. I can't wait to see another play!
A very intimit theater. I can't wait to see another play!
Another fantastic performance of Dr. Suess's How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Really enjoyed the show. Actors were top notch & make us want to return year after year. About 1 hour & 15 minutes, no intermission. Comfortable seats, easy to see stage from just about anywhere in the theatre. Light bites ...
One word AMAZING
A small theater that hold at most 5-6 hundred. We saw arms and the man. A eight cast English comedy that had me crying I was laughing so hard.
A must do on a San Diego trip
Great theater. Didn't seem like there was a bad seat in the house.
The Old Globe is a very good venue for plays, musicals, and similar performing arts. Whether you purchase single event tickets or partial/full season packages, this is the place to take in theater--from Shakespeare to contemporary productions, including some great original debuts. Even seats at the...
I loved Almost Famous at the #Old Globe. Was so fun and cast was great
Broadway quality shows here in San Diego. Popular major actors mixed with excellent local talent.
The Old Globe is top notch. All their productions are world class and the three theaters are all great venues.
There is always fantastic talent on the stage in the plays that the Globe produces.
My wife and I went to see How the Grinch Stole Christmas for the first time, is a very nice theater and not too big, which made it feel real cozy and all but guarantees a good seat anywhere you sit. The sound is really good and location is in the heart of scenic Balboa Park. I recommend you take i...
Always fun to come here!!! Clean fun family oriented atmosphere!!! Try walking around the whole facility, everyone that works here are friendly and really helpful.
Fantastic theaters - one open air like the Old Globe in London. Great performances - Shakespeare and others.
Always a first-class experience at this world-class theater. Located in the jewel, Balboa Park, in the heart of the City, this is an experience not to be missed. Leave plenty of time for parking search or ride-service in.
This is a great venue to watch theater. We were close to the top of the seating, and still had a great view. In fact, because there were many seats available, the ushers told us we could move forward, but our view was already so good we chose to stay in our seats.
I've seen two plays at The Old Globe, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Dec 2017) and The Importance of Being Earnest (Feb 2018), and I thoroughly enjoyed both! The tickets were reasonably priced, I saw the Importance of Being Earnest for only $30!
I just saw The Importance of Being Earnest on Valen...
we just walked out of Rain at intermission and thinking that we blew $180.
The play & performances were great
but the seats were a little tight with NO LEG ROOM!
The old globe says it all. Shakespeare, new work, Balbo a park old globe has it all.
I and my mother came to see Familiar on the final night it played...it was SPECTACULAR! The old Globe has been doing a lot of community outreach and sharing of the arts with REAL San Diegans, not just the rich, older, non-ethnic people that it once seemed only to cater to(not that there's anything w...
Beautiful, tiny theater, saw and oldie but goody ,The Grinch who stole Christmas
Excellent venue, amazing talent and unforgettable entertainment!
Jitney, a period play that is touring the country. Worth a look, plus the Old Globe in Balboa Park is a Jewel in the Crown of San Diego
Enjoyed an amazing performance there last month, Almost Famous. Saw a famous person in attendance. Fantastic everything. Cannot wait to return.
Great recycling if you hit it at the right time. And a fantastic place to take in a play #culture
I have been to two shows here (Time with the Conway's & Red Velvet).
Thoroughly enjoyed my experience here each time and would recommend to anyone looking for a good date idea. Friendly staff and very nice venue with good quality acting.
An excellent location presenting quality performances. I only wish I could afford to go more often.
I watched a show in every section. There are no bad seats. Parking can be challenging especially during daylight hours. I recommend arriving at least an hour before. The Prado restaurant and other eateries are within short walking distance.
Play was super. Ushers great. Seating very good. I love the theater. You can hear and see no matter where you are seated.
I got a backstage tour that was absolutely incredible. I never knew just how many people there is for one play, or just how gigantic the whole place is.
Lots of fun and particularly at Christmas time . A good tip is to go after Christmas nights on the prado Are over. You'll still have the Christmas atmosphere but less trouble parking and fewer crowds.
My wife and I went to a play here called Familiar that was written by Danai Gurira of The Walking Dead. I'm not normally a play person but this one was really, really good. The actors and actresses did a great job. I highly recommend this to anyone.
Broadway shows, outdoor Shakespeare in the round, this place never fails to amaze!
Fantastic venues and wonderful performers. A true gem in Balboa Park.
Seats are great because you can see even if a tall person sits in front of you... good shows, it's not freezing.. and there are plenty of bathrooms
Globe outdoor stage Shakespeare Festival "Romeo and Juliet." Barry Edelstein blew the doors off! Fabulous show. Really made it very accessible to a wide range audience. The staging and the interpolation of contemporary music made the script bold and alive. A must see. A wonderful way to spend a San...
In the amphitheatre, some people sing and sing, many elderly American couples spend time here, free performances, welcome square dance aunt uncle to the bar
The entire experience is fabulous. Venue, ambiance, location, atmosphere.
We travel 240 miles round trip to go to performances here as often as possible. No matter the genre the productions are always superb!
The old globe is a great place for a play. Has a great atmosphere and excellent performances.
What an absolute treat in Balboa Park. We had a chance to get the family together from around the country and we stayed a few days in San Diego. My one daughter is at the Actors Studio in NY and I wanted to sneak in a play while we were on vacation. No one, including my other daughter who lives in S...
This is one of the leading theatre companies in the country, producing a mix of original new work, new shows that recently premiered at other top theatres, and classics. There are three theatres, the "Old Globe," which is the oldest theatre. It was two levels and is indoors. There's the outdoor Lowe...
I've seen some amazing plays at the globe. Can't wait to get back to more amazing shows.
We have had season tickets for several years. It is true that there are no bad seats. All plays are very well acted and have great scenery - some of the best I've seen. Some have gone on to Broadway, some have bombed. But that's theater. You take the good with the not so good. Last season (201...
San Diego's Old Globe has always been the best live theater venue in the city. The first play I saw here was Rhapsody Blues by Arthur Miller. Legendary experience.
Lately there have been several off Broadway shows that have come through and San Diego's actually staged a number of plays that origi...
Saw the Lorax tonight. Of course the political rehtoric infects the show. Can t we even enjoy a play with out bashing president Trump. This killed it for me, would not recommend if you don t want to hear about politics. Waste of money.
Always an excellent evening- just the best theatre in San Diego.
Love this theater, we just saw the Jitney which is a great show
Excellent venue. Every seat has a great view of the stage. The sound was amazing.
Probably the best playhouse in San Diego and I go to the various playhouses here quite a bit.
The Old Globe is one of my favorite theaters I've been to. The atmosphere is great and staff tends to be super friendly. I've seen the Grinch there, as well as two Pig Pen Theatre Co productions which were all amazing. Additionally, they host special events for people with autism that prevent shows ...
Great productions and shows. Nice outdoor and indoor theaters. Food and drinks are nothing fancy.
Absolutely fantastic! Great space and equally great performance.
Just saw Almost Famous. A beautiful production as always. You can always count on the Old Globe.
All Old Globe shows are good, but zjitney is oustanding.
Dear friends The Old Globe Teaching to us as following words : Turn your personal painting into a piece of the earth's puzzle so that our unified assemblage of thoughts, experiences and lessons reveal common truths that cannot be denied. Imagine the changes that could happen if everyone suddenly sto...
Great theater seating and atmosphere. I love all the unique plays it offers.
The Old Globe's theater presentations are outstanding. There are no "bad" seats in any of the three theaters. The plays presented are top notch, and some have moved on to Broadway or off Broadway. Wonder addition to Balboa Park.
I'm a native SD and this was my first time at the Old globe. I'm very happy that we chose the Grinch as our first experience. It got my husband and myself in the Christmas spirit. I highly recommend seeing it.
When walking around the Balboa Park, The Old Globe grabbed my attention right away. Couldn't help it to keep walking that direction to check out the beautiful building!
It turns out it is a theater. It is not a big venue, small but intimate. What a beautiful architecture!!
