Awesome place to setup shop if you are in need of a recording space and office buildings.
Take a moment to stop by here there is plenty of nearby parking. Soak it in, any movie or television lover will be pleased just to stand at the gates. This is where 1933 King Kong was filmed and those sets were later burned for "the Burning of Atlanta" scenes in Gone with the Wind which a majority was shot here. Later Lucille Ball & Desi Arnaz bought the complex and it was the home of Desilu. We're talking, I Love Lucy, Make Room For Daddy, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Star Trek, & so much more. The studio has seen many changes in size and ownership but it still remains with its iconic Mansion. Also you may note the Mansion was used twice in Gone with the Wind in opening shot of the Twelve Oaks Barbecue the mansion is given a long drive through the magic of matte paintings. And later the mansion is totally disguised as the Atlanta house again through matte painting, even today the shrubs are still are they were in the film (just a bit bigger today) and you can stand there right where Hattie McDaniel, and Butterfly McQueen once stood looking are the studio office aka the Big House in Atlanta.
Great setting that makes you feel you've gone back in time.
Small, clean, and efficient. Always a great experience working here
My first taping at The FABlife show!
The Studio: Located in downtown Culver City. There is a studio sign on Washington Blvd so you won't miss it.
The Show: First season. Small studio but intimate. Beautiful set. The hosts are super super super friendly with the audience. They interact with the audience and chat with them when the show is finished. The stage manager is great in controlling the time, 2 hours taping.
The Parking: For TV taping, you park at the public parking structure right across from the studio. The first two hours FREE then $1 per hour. Very reasonable price.
Just the show. Great producers and Mr. Mandela. A very feel good show.
Painfully slow gate check in policy and staff. They allow one of the lot big shots to ride his Harley on the lot. At least 4 times a day it broke takes when he he rode by. Stupid. Go to a lot that cares about its clients.
Great studio lot. The facade was used in Gone with the WInd.
Culver Studios does a lot for the local schools which is great.
Ive had the pleasure of being on the lot a few times for business and for events. Both were great.
One of the landmark Hollywood studios still operating in Los Angeles. I was lucky enough to be able to visit a friend and get a personal tour of some production sets. It's amazing to see behind the walls and get a glimpse at how the magic is brought to life. Culver is especially cool due to its history, and age of some of the property. Wikipedia can better explain the history for those interested.
I had no idea these studios were over here. Pretty well hidden. You can park at Trader Joe's and walk over.
