Lively and fun to be in. Affordable and extremely entertaining
An unpretentious venue with a zany and eccentric vibe. Just saw a very unique play for $22. Great experience, would love to come back.
Saw Royal Osiris Karaoke Ensemble there. Brilliant!
My favorite theatre in Brooklyn! Such a great community of people and always has new captivating work! GO!
Unique, hidden gem for an experimental theater. Worth seeking out.
A quirky, independent, innovative off-off-B'way theater in Bushwick by the Jefferson Street stop on the L -- a quirky area in itself, with several awesome bars and restaurants to visit post-show. Tickets are cheap and include a free drink at a nearby bar (usually leading to many more drinks -- but that's another story!) Events range from fairly traditional plays (like the one where that old lady got eaten by the dog!) to funky explorations of what-if-this-had-happened (RoosevElvis!) to dance parties (Shasta Geaux Pop!) to foodie-friendly fundraisers (Taste of Bushwick!). This is a little theater with heart.
Awesome place! The relatively small theatre has a bohemian shabby chic, unlike the ones on Broadway but it is clean and absolutely suitable for the plays. I watched the Singleton here which was amazing, I would recommend it to everyone. If you buy the ticket online you will be admitted to the theatre based on a list with names, no need to print anything; this is not clear from the website.
Anything I've ever seen here as been of the highest quality. I adore this theater.
Funky neighborhood performance venue. A fun, intimate theater space.
Great theater for experimental productions. They have a main room and an upstairs for readings that are still being workshopped. Reasonably priced, bar and bathrooms on premises
Diana Oh transformed the place into a queer wonderland. It was excellent
I work in the space once a month and its always the best
Saw Jillian Walker's Skinfolks, a beautiful sung and spoken reflection on life as a black person in America. The Start was a perfect venue for this work: warm, small and invitingly intimate.
Lovely theatre set up in a loft, but don't be fooled by its location -- almost every play at The Bushwick Starr gets raving reviews by The New York Times etc. Tickets go for $15.
Nice intimate place to see a performance. Good art here!
