We went to Sumo to celebrate a birthday and everyone had a great time. Our chef Chris was hilarious, plus he can cook up some delicious food. We will definitely be back.
Was a great experience. The chief was very awesome and food was great
This is mine and my boyfriend's favorite hibachi place. Great happy hour at the bar, awesome chefs and service at dinner. They have a good sake selection and some really nice sushi rolls. I usually get the 210 roll or the Shamu's choice (scallops, shrimp, and lobster). The portions are big and the food is well made. Never had a bad experience here.
Good place to have a nice dinner but will spend a nice penny here.
Loved everything about the restaurant and our meal!! Just make sure u call first to make sure they have enough cooks available.
I had my birthday dinner here on super bowl sunday the service was outstanding and the food was also amazing I will definitely be visiting soon
Chefs performance was very intriguing! Fun to watch, outstanding, Server was extremely nice.
We went to celebrate my wife s birthday and from the time we entered the restaurant until the moment we left the services was excellent. High Recommend, we will return!
We may have just gone at a bad time for them, but there were literally only six other patrons when we got there and we were told it would be a 45 minute wait.
Food is always great! Chefs are fun and very friendly...The only thing I do not like is they always add my 1yr old or younger into the bill so they can add the gratuity into check.
A billboard said that it is one of the best in San Antonio. I can t find my pic of the Flaming Scorpion Bowl drink! OMG delicious! Everything from the soup, salad to the main entree were fabulous. Better to make reservations before going they had spots for us. I m glad they did! The food was beyond delicious! Check it out!
really good food and the cook was very entertaining .. Very nice setting as Well
Quality food. Service flawless. Price around $100 to $125 for two people. Wine, entree, salad, soup, mountain of rice
KC makes the best sushi and even makes sushi rolled in cucumber versus rice. Made to order. Patrick is awesome and attentive, makes great drinks and creates a great atmosphere at the bar area.
Great steakhouse been here several times... The showcase is usually phenomenal... Only catch is... Your experience is contingent upon your chef. The name of the chef I favor escapes me at the moment... Regardless, you'll have a very nice time. Food is definitely awesome. The chefs accommodate special cooking requests... Within of course. Enjoy
Loooovvee it!! Got to have the yum yum sauce with the rice.
I didnt even stay to eat because there were so many fruit flies in the waiting area.... I could only imagine what it was like in the kitchen where all the food is...
Had a great experience!! Cynthia was an awesome chef, she kept great conversation and put on a show. A little overpriced but you get a large portion of food. Went at 12 pm on a Saturday which was perfect there was no one. Food was delicious
The staff over at Sumo - they try, they work very hard for their customers, they take care of everyone to have a great experience....and the food is amazing! They accommodated my group of 14 and it worked out beautifully. We all had a blast and I owe some of that to the staff at Sumo. I would go everyday if I could. Thank you Sumo for our great experience yesterday!
This was my first experience and it was outstanding. Exciting and the food was very good :)
Amazing experience and delicious food. It was recommended over and over I'm glad we finally listened. Big portions of food my leftovers are in the photo lol
Tommy was amazing. My second time eating here this was the best experience
Went on a slower night so maybe the timing was just off. It took 45 mins to get started and just get the soup out. Once the show started, it was great and incredibly tasty. Be prepared for LOTS of singing and hearing happy birthday and cliche jokes about egg rolls. And there was confusion about the check in the end that took forever when all I wanted to do was go home and rub my full belly.
Horrific, need a reservation for a low end steakhouse. Monster fish in tiny fish tank, smells gross. Stay away
Loved it! Definitely had a great time with good food and drinks!
Occasionally the wait is a bit long, but the complimentary little spring rolls at the hostess desk were a good diversion. The service was better than normal and the food was great as usual.
Food is delicious but the prices are ridiculously high.
Worst Japanese restaurant I've ever been to and i travel all over the country
Great time just didnt like the paper plates for all the money spent
The staff at this place are great. They allowed me to design for a small bday party, and were always made us feel comfortable. The price was also good for the event.
Very bad food. The sushi is not fresh, you can see the quality of the fish that has been sitting on the bar for who knows how long (wish I saw it before I ordered) Sushi taste bad. Service was poor.
A little overpriced and eating areas were very cramped. But chef Tommy was very entertaining and we enjoyed him thoroughly. Even my 15 month old stayed entertained by him the whole time and ate her fried rice that Tommy made for her!!!
Don't know, didn't go there, just convenient to use their parking lot. But I'm sure they have good food.
Delicious food and Awesome entertainment by our chef Tommy!
Service was pretty damn terrible. We waited almost 2 hours for someone to start cooking the we ordered. They overcharged us and then wasted 30 minutes of our time fixing it. I would not recommend. Our cook also seemed like he was on drugs or as if he was under the influence. It wasn't fun and the food wasn't worth the money. Our waitress only attended our table once every hour if that and during those quick stops she wouldn't top off our drinks unless we requested it.
Great experience and accommodating service. Thank you for a great time. I loved the Sake Bombs and Fish Bowl upgraded with 1800...yum !
Good food. Little pricey. Still under construction.
Tonight was superb! Husband's birthday was the best with local and out of state friends.
Tommy is the best chef!!! He made my birthday celebration so special! The food was amazing but the wait was really long.. only downfall of the whole evening!
Sumo is my favorite place to eat sushi. We go on a week day while George is the chef to enjoy all of the delights. We sit at the bar because watching our creations being made is almost as fabulous as how they taste. The great thing about Sumo is the individual treatment George and the staff provide. If you want amazing sushi and more, you must try Sumo.
Good food but horrible atmosphere. Too loud and the employees banging on the vent hoods with their cooking implements, and they frequently do this, is not only annoying and childish but would very likely dislodge dust and other particulate matter directly over the cooking service. If you want to be able to share a conversation with your dinner guests then go somewhere else that isn't intentionally annoyingly loud.
First of all they forgot to serve part of my friend sushi, the big deal that made really mad was I found a long hair on mi rice!! And the worst thing is my charge was $20 and next day I found on my bank account $20 plus another $85 charge for no reason!!!
Oh my goodness the server was super funny and a great chef!!!
The best hibachi spot I've been to ever!! The chefs are great performers. The cooking trucks are the usual, but the conversations with the chef are authentic and genuine. Ours really wanted to know about us and our dinner party, or so it seemed so. The tilapia was scrumptious, the fried rice delicious. Everything was doused in their butter concoction, which our chef admitted was the real seasoning to everything, straight out of the cookbook of Paula Deen...
First time here and we loved it! Good times thankyou!
Decent food. Somewhat expensive for the quality. Maybe I caught them on a bad day in terms of staff friendliness and food quality.
Amazing food and staff!!! You will never leave hungry.
Everything was great, we went at an earlier time so it was more quiet and the chef was awesome. Nice and clean inside, and easy to access from the outer highway.
Terrible customer service. Wish managment was more involved.
The food was bland, the only thing that had flavor was the soup. Our waiter was good for the first 30mins and then all of a sudden he was gone! He was dealing w/his other table(he only had 2) and he didn't come back till our checks were delivered. It took over 20mins for the management to even come over to see if we needed anything since our waiter was to busy and when we asked for things they seemed like it was too much for them to do. The cook was trying to make up for the lack of service by trying to find someone to help us out while he was cooking, which made him get distracted and kinda burn a little bit of the food. The only reason we went is cuz we had a groupon...definitely won't be going back!
Tommy was awesome , my kids really enjoyed there first experience here. Food was perfectly cook! Will be returning.
We went on 9/16/18 as a celebration dinner for my daughter s 21st birthday. We ve never been before and thought it was a wonderful meal and an experience that everyone enjoyed, not just the birthday girl. Request Tommy, I understand he is one of the top showman chefs they have and he had us engaged and entertained through every course. The food was abundant and delicious, the sauces were unexpectedly tasty. Even my picky eater granddaughter loved it. Very entertaining and a great time for everyone.
This was our first time going to Sumo and it was excellent. The entertainment was awesome. My nieces have never been to Hibachi and they had a great time.
Food was good, drinks good and it is worth the price.
Passed by this place several times and on a whim, was fortunate enough to sit at the hibachi grill and witness greatness. Most people, when they go out, expect dinner and a show but here, dinner is the show! And everything was perfect down to the last detail. Highly recommend and cannot wait to go back again!
Service was inconsistent. Our cook was funny in the beginning, but stopped tricks & jokes midway. All tables around us were having shrimp thrown to them & many more tricks than we experienced. Had to remind cook about fried rice missing chicken & that steak ordered was regular menu not kids. We also told them we were celebrating a birthday & nothing but a "oh, happy birthday!" Three other tables around us got sung happy birthday by their servers & cook. My daughter (birthday girl) said she loved her food but wishes we would have gotten a different cook.
While there I noticed a cook towards the back of the restaurant cooking without a mask (There was one person at their table, but since she was there all night I assumed the cook was just making to-go orders).
I love sitting at the grill in this restaraunt! Great food. Nice employees.
The customer service is the worst I have ever seen. The restaurant was not busy yet we waited for a hour to be seated. Tables just weren't being cleared off and nobody wanted to do it.
Great time, chefs with nice mood and good jokes while they cook and serve your dishes.
Expensive, be aware to confirm all the extra offers they do.
Good food, big sizes, good show, got a new chef but he did his best and made the meal great. It's a great show and a meal
The food was somewhat over peppered for my liking. Otherwise it was fine. The workers are pretty cool.
The cook was not the best bt he has a great sense of humor. Food is not seasoned right and some not done right the way you asked to. But he was a funny young man.
Very entertaining. Enjoyed the showmanship. Made it a fun dining experience.
Had a reservation for 8pm. Place was really busy. It was an hour and a half before they even brought the food out to cook. Drink service was beyond horrible, staff very inattentive. When we finally got our drink order in it was a while before we got it. Even paying our check took forever. Ridiculous, definitely not coming back... and do NOT recommend. F -
Had a great time. Andrew the chef was awesome. He did a great job in preparing the meal. Food was great. He also showed great showman skills during the time my wife and was there. Magellana the waitress was kind, sweet , helpful and very knowledgeable and had a great smile. They both made the time there unforgettable. Yes we will be back.
Had to wait over one hour to get service and definitely under staffed. Food is not even great
I loved this place! I had made reservations for my husband's birthday. It was both our first time experiencing a hibachi restaurant. The waiter and chef were both very outgoing, funny, and attentive. We left there with our cheeks hurting from laughing so much and feeling like we made new friends. We will definitely be going back to this place. Amazing food and experience!
The food was good and the chef was entertaining, but the food was very overpriced and they apply an automatic 18% gratuity.
