Called at noon to order wire and arrived for pick up at 4:30. Asked if could pay over phone and drive up bec wld have kids in the car and was told I could not. Said I cld just go to counter and let them know my name and cld pay there. Super quick.
Nope. Waited in line for 20 minutes, then when got to counter, wire not yet cut, and wld take 30 - 40 minutes! Said he didn't know why I was told I cldnt pay over the phone. No apology!
While other businesses (like mine) are forced to close for COVID lockdown, this company doesn't seem to be appreciative they are allowed to stay open.
I've been using Summit as a contractor for 15 plus years I've had very little issues with them. For the most part they're all very good at what they do.
Great service, every time I go there I'm helped fast and day have what I need on hand. Great tool selection the parking is easy to get in and out of very competitive electrical supply house I like it!
It's a good place to get your equipment. The staff can be a little rough at times but they are all upstanding people. Call ahead if you have any questions and they are quick to help.
I am not an electrician, just a homeowner upgrading his electrical service, but the staff at Summit treated me extremely well and took care of everything I needed. They were willing to spend the extra time needed for me to explain my needs despite the small scale of my purchases. Service was always fast and courteous and the one time they didn't have what I needed, they were willing to go the extra mile and get it ordered for me and delivered in time to complete the project prior to the city inspection.
I'm not a professional so when I went into Summit the staff didn't seem to care or even pay attention to what I was asking for.. I wanted a push button switch to turn on and off a piece of equipment. I had to go back because instead of giving me a switch that stays on or as they call it "maintained" switch they gave me a " momentary" switch. That was after I had repeated what I was looking for several times. That was very disappointing.
As for what was on the floor I was like a child in a candy store. The best part about what they sell is a lot to it is made in China no are you kidding--no the best part about this store is that they serve contactors that require their merchandise be made in the USA so a lot of tools that you could not find in Sears or Lowe's you can find there. For a person that hates buying Chinese--as it is they own us--I can by good old made on the farm OK factories.. As I said you can't even do that at Sears.
People are great but new management only cares about profits, cares less about the people that do all the work and made them successful. Support a different electrical distributor like Border States.
I went to summit supply looking for a hard to find outlet for a wall unit A/C. They didn't have exactly what I needed but the man that helped me find other options. He to the back many times and never complained I didn't always know the right terminology he never talked down to me like some other place will do. The staff was helpful to everyone that walked through the door. I just wish I got the man's name that helped me so I could give him a better review.
This is not my first choice in electrical supply. I don't like the "purchase more from us today and we might lower pricing down the road sometime" policy.
Good parking. Fast service. Reasonable prices. Lots of stock. They can get anything quickly. Getting out to go west is not so easy due to heavy traffic.
I use this place all the time to get supplies for commercial electrical systems. You cannot beat the fast service and wide selection of on-hand inventory. I uploaded a photo of a breaker box I built using only parts purchased from Summit.
