The park was named after Sequoyah, a Cherokee Indian who created the Cherokee syllabary - a writing system that allowed his people to read and write their own language.
The park's natural beauty is evident from the moment you arrive. The lush forests are home to a variety of wildlife such as deer, turkey, foxes and even bald eagles. The lake provides ample opportunities for fishing with species such as bass, crappie and catfish being common catches.
