Sepia is a nice West Loop alternative to the long wait times on Randolph. The food, ambiance and prices make this a nice date spot or business dinner. I'm also a fan of their cocktails which are made with fresh, seasonal ingredients.
Fantastic lunch. The food is great, and the service is 5 star. There is a wide selection of food. I opted for a special which was a Thai sausage sandwich, it was very good. There is a crazy lunch rush, but it clears quickly.
My wife and I enjoyed ourselves at this restaurant, due primarily to the easygoing atmosphere, great service, and of course, great tasting food worthy of its Michelin star. It's easy to see why this is one of Mrs. Obama's favorite spots.
Excellent food and service. The Rohan duck and the Cod were both amazing. So was the scallops appetizer and the pavlova dessert. We wanted to try one Michelin star restaurant during this visit. So glad we picked Sepia.
Fantastic dining experience. Not only did I enjoy the food but also the rustic decor. The extremely friendly and accommodating staff as well as the amazing food made my evening in Chicago a night to remember. I will definitely be back!
This was a great pick for a special occasion. The food was to die for and the presentation was really simple but classy and tasted like heaven. It is just another reminder that great food does not have to come in oversized portions. I will be back here to enjoy their group menu for sure. One of th...
Food was great but service was very slow. I've been to 12 course tasting menus that took less time. There was a ton of time between servings. All that aside the food was great.
Dining atmosphere: I could barely hear my partner and tables were too close to eachother. Drinks: Good recommendations from our server. Many options. Appetizer/Entree: The flavors were acceptable but somehow off balance in an attempt to serve something 'out there.' This just could have been the pa...
Great meal overall, but would call out the Falafel entree as truly amazing. We added it to our tasting menu, since we had never thought of Falafel being a fancy option and we're curious to see what you could do with it. We were not disappointed and it was probably the highlight of an overall fantast...
The food was good. The service was terrible. We were there for a business lunch. It took us over 2 hours to finish the meal. We has to ask the bus boy if we could order starters 12 min after we were seated s the waiter had not arrived. The restaurant was cleared out before we got our mains. ...
This was my first time at a restaurant with a Michillen Star. Expectations were high and they exceeded them all. The food was excellent, presentation was also excellent. The staff was also exemplary. If I would ding them for anything is that the time between the 1st and 2nd course felt long. Perhaps...
The food was amazing! As a vegetarian, I am always wary of going to upscale restaurants. But the pappardelle with mushrooms was incredibly delicious; my date thought it was even better than the duck he got. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. This experience was worth the price!
A concise menu of locally sourced foods, paired with a well curated wine list. What used to be a challenging acoustic environment has been much improved and the friendliness of the staff has been consistent over the ten+ years it's been here.
Their happy hour is one of the best for the price! $7 drinks and small bites is great! We ate dinner there the day after valentines day though and it was definitely not up to par. Everything was good enough but the duck was tasteless and chewy. Hopefully the dinner was just a hangover from valentine...
Sepia had a vintage feel with the whole rustic decor and paper menu. We got the burger which was excellent and the duck fat fries. Too much for lunch but probably 1.5 person's worth. Waitress was very friendly and funny. Menu changes everyday and they re-print the menu on cool paper
Beginning service and food was very good However, the entries were very slow in coming and two plates, salmon, were cold and mushy. No comment from our server.
Delicious dinner! Great service! The falafel dish was a great vegetarian option. I also got roasted radish side dish which was absolutely delicious. The main dishes are not very large, so you will definitely want to have an appetizer or side of veggies as well.
This was an amazing place to go eat. The food was great and the prices where just exquisite. This is the best mishlen star restaurant that won't break the bank in Chicago. Just a tip of the advice. They charge $5 for each club soda. I ended up paying $15 total for club soda. But this is a must go in...
Loved it. Definitely my kind of culinary experience, the 4 courses menu with limited choices allow for enough customisation without just letting you drawn in options. Perfect. The food was excellent and nicely presented. The Sommelier was knowledgeable and offer good advice. We will be back.
I've been wanting to try this place for months, but that's because reservations is about a two month wait.
The bone marrow is a must. I don't come here often so I never remember what I ordered until I look at my last photos. For some reason I am always getting the agnolotti. It always sounds s...
Fantastic experience dining with 6 coworkers. It s almost easy to miss this place, as the signage outside doesn t immediately catch your attention, but it was a welcoming atmosphere as we were greeted just inside. We tried a little of everything the menu had to offer and were impressed with all of i...
This restaurant is a little bit too fancy for my tastes. The food is expensive and the staff is in your face intrusive nice like at most high-end restaurants. Food comes in small portions and are presented very ornately.
Great place to grab some amazing dinner, cheese was on point, charcuterie was spot-on as well. I had the rabbit, excellent. And the mascarpone cheesecake was the perfect amount of savory and sweet. Highly recommend getting reservations ahead of time which we did.
Wow, what a total disappointment. I think the other reviews here must have never been to a true Michelin Star restaurant. The service was not just not good, it was bad. The food, yeah okay, but seriously, at a $100 a head for a four course tasting menue it should have been much better. Don't waste y...
Great food. Wine list is incredibly interesting with off the beaten path wines. Best part - the sommelier doesnt hide somewhere and let you fumble through the list. Jenny came over and picked the perfect wine for us. She's great. Ask for her!
Very happy with the experience here overall. I thoroughly enjoyed drinking their Old Fashioned, it was easily in the top 5 old fashions I drank in all of 2017. The tasting menu was one of the better ones I've had around Chicago, too. You can't really go wrong here. Will come back.
I'd give four stars if this were a comparison between 1-star Michelin restaurants only, but in the world of Google we are comparing Sepia on the same scale as we are comparing Burger King - and that's just not fair to a place of such high craftsmanship. I really enjoyed the reasonably priced tasting...
This place was amazing. The host and my server Kevin were spectacular. The food was phenomenal and had me feeling like Remy in Ratatouille when he puts the food in his mouth and visualizes the taste in sounds and colors. Food shouldn't just be eaten it should be an experience and Sepia did a magnifi...
My boyfriend took me here for a special birthday dinner and we arrived shortly before 8, were seated immediately and ordered our food shortly after. We didn't receive our appetizers until 8:40, and then waited another 45 minutes before we got out entrees. We spent a total of 2.5 hours there and lef...
Good Overall. We went here for dinner during restaurant week. My favorite dishes were the Coffee Cured Beef and the Papardelle. My least favorite was the Veal, which tasted good, but was extremely rubbery and challenging to eat. I wouldn't mind coming back to try some more!
I picked Sepia based on customer reviews as I wanted to find a great spot to celebrate my friends Birthday. I had high expectations being a Michelin star restaurant but needless to say it was a flop. Ambiance was average at best nothing out of ordinary the food it self was just okay. We opted for th...
Unexpected.. sometimes a stroll to a close by place and having a superb experience is quite the highlight of .. this year i think.. best restaurant i have been to this year definitely..
Very good food for those seeking classic culinary experiences. The food is delicious, the selection of wines is great. Staff was super friendly and polite. Nice place for a special dinner.
We order 5 items which came with a complimentary pallet cleanser (don t do it) and dessert. I can t say anything was delicious, in fact the duck was particularly awful with an after taste. The scallops and rabbit pasta was good - but I wouldn t go back for the price or recommend this restaurant.
Always something interesting, be it something entirely new to me, or something otherwise mundane done amazingly. Was just there for restaurant week 2020. If you are going, Milk-braised pork collar isnhighly recommended. The polenta in that dish is simply amazing.
I had the beef entree. The meat very good and the vegetables very tasty. The only regret was that we did not have time to order dessert as the service was too slow.
I have been to Sepia several times. "In the beginning" it was great experience. Fantastic food served by awesome folks. The last few visits delivered excellent food but the service so lack luster a robot would have been preferred over our uninterested, uninvolved waiter who was able to offer no de...
This is a old school really dark place. I personally really liked this but I can see why some people would prefer something different. The food was really tasty and service was very helpful/friendly.
This spot gives extraordinary service as well as tasty menu. My favourite spot around here. The drinks and food served quick and the rates were economical. Recommended.
Andrew Zimmerman has maintained a Michelin star since he started at Sepia; since 2011. Food was impressive; service was great. Tasting menu was one of the cheapest we d had and every single thing was good. Can t wait to come back. They did well to take care of my gf, whom can t do cow dairy.
Michelin starred and for a reason. Food is mouthwateringly good. Ambience is lovely. Would definitely go back to try their tasting menu and other items!
Really wanted to give this restaurant 5 The food was good, but nothing blew my mind. Service was 4 stars. I had some questions about the origin of the fish and did not find out if it was wild or farmed. Sturgeon was nicely flavored, but a little dry. Wine pairing was 5 very good selection The ...
Went for lunch last Thursday with my husband. I was overall disappointed. We picked the fixed price menu. I asked our waiter if they was any way I could switch the dessert for something else like cheese for example as I'm not sweets. He didn't even bother to try or anything and said no. Appetizer...
This place was amazing! The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was awesome. The staff is very friendly, and wants to make sure you have a great experience.
Great experience from the warm greeting when we entered to the mixologist and all thru dinner. Staff was very attentive and courteous. Thanks to our local wine expert (one of our guests), we had a wonderful Sojourn Pinot Noir along with the Skate Wing, Wagu bavette, Venison and Arctic Char, all de...
The food is good. The people are nice, but the service is very slow. Expect to spend a minimum of 1.5-2 hrs for lunch. I have never gotten out of there in less than 1.5 hrs.
Decor is good, service and staff are good, food fell short of expectation. I ll be trying proxi next to really get to know the chefs and figure their food out!
