Worst experience I ve ever had with a bank. I opened the account online and a couple of weeks later I received an extremely vague letter in the mail saying I needed to provide documents per the Patriot Act, no information about what documents just a number to call. I called the number and the customer service rep didn t know what I was talking about and said my account seemed fine and not to worry.

Another few days couple of weeks passed or and I received another letter from Sandy Spring Bank again telling me I needed to provide documents for the patriot act, again with no other information so this time I sent an email asking what it was I needed to provide and I did not receive a response.

Another week went by and I got another letter from the bank telling me that my account was being closed because I did not provide the documentation. I called the bank and, after wasting a ridiculous amount of time on hold, I was finally told what I needed to provide. I sent in the documents online per their instructions But this point I was having a pretty bad taste in my mouth about the bank so I decided to close my account. I scheduled an appointment for today to close the account and was told by the person in the bank that I didn t need to come in and close it because my head a zero balance which I certainly did not have a zero and I told her this and she didn t know what happened. After she had to do research and call me back and told me that they had close my account because I did not provide the documents for the ridiculous patriot act, despite that I had indeed provided the documents.

Scary to think that a bank this disorganized is actually in operation, while the customer service reps are polite they are in knowledgeable which results in a very poor customer service experience. Certainly nota place I d want my money held.
