Stopped by for supper on our way from Houston to San Antonio and we're happy we did. The food was delicious and well prepared.

One suggestion for the owners, replace the cold white LED bulbs with warm light LED bulbs. The cold white bulbs make it feel like you're in an institution, not a cozy restaurant.

Raquel was our waitress and she was so polite. The food was very good. The hostess and helper staff was so friendly. Read other reviews and decided to stop by. Been coming through Flatonia for years and didn t know this place was here. We will definitely be stopping by again. Would recommend Robert s steakhouse. We came by on Good Friday and was busy but we got seated and our food arrived in a timely manor.

I'm undecided about my experience here.

We arrived on a packed Saturday night, and it did take a bit to get seated. It wasn't an unacceptably long wait, but not super fast.

The service was great! Absolutely fantastic, even though the now hiring sign made me think they would be understaffed. Our drinks never went empty and the server was super friendly and prompt.

The food was, how should I put this, acceptable. My medium ribeye came out with a large amount of char all over. To cover the dryness, they pile butter on top right before they serve it. The cook was exactly medium, despite the charring indicating otherwise. My son's chicken fried steak was absolutely gigantic, however there was twice as much breading as steak which made it almost inedible. All the meals at our table followed that pattern, almost good but just not. I'd be interested to see if their medium rare comes out better than their medium and will make another trip to determine if it was just a bad night.

The cleanliness of the restaurant does need some attention. I noticed multiple things that had obviously not been cleaned in years (don't look at the entrance chandelier). I'm sure if they weren't short staffed some of it would be fixed, however the overall appearance needs attention.

I'll return and give it another go before I make a final decision.

Excellent service and strong drinks can be found here. That being said the place is run down and the steaks leave something to be desired. As previous reviewers have mentioned the cesear salad is pre-made and sits in a chiller with watered down dressing and the steaks are chared (my guess on a not very well cleaned grill) to the taste of being burnt. The filet mignon I ordered was dry yet somehow medium rare on the inside as I ordered it. The baked potato was hot but fixings were inexpensive. Definitely didn't feel like the $50 price tag of the meal and this is coming from someone who reviews $500 12 course tasting menus. Food aside the staff is sweet and work together to make sure you are well taken care of. For that I leave them with three stars because it's "Just OK". If your a truck driver looking for a place to park and a hot meal it's great just know that it is over priced if you order some of the higher end things on the menu.
