NAACP builds Black political power to end structural racism. Let's put end to race-based discrimination together: become a member, advocate, or donate today.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is a civil rights organization that was founded in 1909. The organization's mission is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights for all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination. The NAACP has been at the forefront of many important civil rights battles throughout its history.
One of the primary goals of the NAACP is to build Black political power. This means working to elect officials who will fight for policies that benefit Black communities and holding those officials accountable once they are in office. The NAACP also works to educate voters about issues that affect their communities and encourages them to participate in elections.
Another important aspect of the NAACP's work is advocacy. The organization advocates for policies that promote racial justice and equality at all levels of government. This includes advocating for criminal justice reform, voting rights protections, affordable housing initiatives, and more.
In addition to its political work, the NAACP also provides a range of services and resources to support Black communities across the country. These include legal assistance through its Legal Defense Fund, education programs like ACT-SO (the Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics), health initiatives like its COVID-19 Equity Task Force, and more.
If you're interested in supporting the work of the NAACP, there are several ways you can get involved. One option is becoming a member - membership gives you access to exclusive events and resources while also supporting ongoing advocacy efforts. You can also donate directly or volunteer your time as an advocate or organizer.
Overall, if you're looking for an organization dedicated to ending structural racism through political power-building and advocacy efforts - look no further than the NAACP!
