The parking situation at Moonrise Hotel in St Louis was a bit tricky. While there is a large lot behind the property, I was required to move my car to a separate building after check-in, which came as an unexpected cost. Despite that hiccup, the hotel itself, its prime location, the rooms, and the bar are all excellent. It did feel a little strange that the bar crowd seemed like an exclusive club rather than fellow guests, but that vibe fits the venue's character.

I had a mixed experience at the Moonrise Hotel in St. Louis. The location is fantastic for exploring the city, but safety feels like a different story; the lack of a secured parking lot and the frequent requests for money from people walking around the building were a bit unsettling. Service was inconsistent. My first experience with the valet was rough—he seemed genuinely annoyed when I tried to get into my car and yelled at me. However, the valet who helped me the next day was polite and wonderful. The front desk staff were friendly but missed the mark on hospitality by not informing us about hotel amenities, which felt like a missed opportunity. On the bright side, the hotel itself is stunning. The renovation of the old gym structure is beautifully done, and the room views were lovely. I also loved that they are pet-friendly, which is a huge plus. Dining was excellent; both Idol Wolf and Good Press delivered top-notch food and service. While the room itself was standard, it needed some minor repairs, like broken handles and faulty bathroom fixtures. Despite the service hiccups and parking situation, I would recommend the Moonrise for its unique character and great location.

I have to give credit where it’s due: the team at Moonrise Hotel was incredibly friendly, and the breakfast wasn’t bad. However, the rest of my stay left much to be desired. For starters, housekeeping skipped my room entirely while I was there. It turns out you have to request turndown service every single day, and since I missed the note explaining that, my bed stayed unmade—my mistake, sure, but still inconvenient. The room itself was disappointing. I had reserved a queen, but was moved to a king suite designed for accessibility. It felt sparse and impractical for business: just a bed, two nightstands, a dresser, and a chair. No desk or table meant I had to balance my laptop on an ironing board next to the single chair to get any work done. To make matters worse, the Wi-Fi went down for a good chunk of my stay, and the elevators were unreliable, often out of service. The pool area also felt dated, with missing tile trim that gave it a worn-out look. The "beach towels" provided were surprisingly small, feeling more like hand towels than actual pool towels. Given these issues, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. If you’re looking for a hassle-free trip in St. Louis, Moonrise might not be the right fit for you.

Moonrise Hotel in St. Louis turned out to be a wonderful discovery for us. Located just a short four-block walk from the baseball stadium and with convenient car access from the south, it hit all our requirements. The staff provided excellent service, and the rooms, lobby, and bar were quite appealing to my wife. We especially enjoyed the live music on Friday nights and spent some time relaxing in the lounge area after the game. The only downside was street noise on the lower levels, so next time I’ll definitely ask for a higher floor. We’ll certainly be returning!

Checking in at the Moonrise Hotel in St. Louis was a smooth experience, thanks to the friendly and efficient staff who had my key ready quickly. The room itself was spacious and spotless, though adding a channel guide and some washcloths would have been a nice touch. The complimentary breakfast offered a decent variety, including waffles, scrambled eggs, pastries, and a few cereal options, though a heavier eater might find the selection a bit light. A great perk is the location, which puts you within walking distance of plenty of local shops and restaurants.
